HELLO! I'm new to this! I currently applied to the Tennessee Technology Center @ Shelbyville, for the Nursing Program. Has anyone taken this course? I will find out end of July if I'm accepted. What is the class like? Is it as hard as everyone says it is? What is the best thing to be studying/reading over the summer? I'm sooo excited, and just hate the anticipation of waiting to find out if im in or not!
Thanks for any information!
I am going a little stir crazy...took compass last monday 87 on math and 97 on reading...waiting for the status letter
by mid march...for the evening program at ttc murfreesboro that starts in may:) Are my chances decent? How much
approximately will be due on the first day as I am self financing this hopeful endeavor...my letters were good and they didnt want my master's degree only my high school diploma...(useless degree apparently) lol I am army national guard as well...
Whats a good expectation level for orientation if accepted? IM so full of questions...and no one to really ask...any info would be extremely helpful...Thanks soccer wolf 30
This is for the Nashville campus, but it should be around the same amount since its a TTC school just a different campus. You can purchase your books on Amazon. It should save you $150-$200 dollars.

Starting pay for new LPN's in the Nashville area varies a little. I was offered $14/hour at a doctors office. I made $18/hour doing private duty nursing (no benefits). I was offered $16.50/hour at a nice nursing home and $15/hour at a not so nice nursing home. However if you are hired PRN then you make more money but have no benefits. I made $19.50/hour working PRN at a skilled nursing facility in Nashville. A friend of mine made $16.50/hour at an assisted living facility. If you work evening or night shift they you will get a shift differental so your pay will be a little more. Where I work you get $3/hour extra for working night shift but some places only offer 1 or 2 dollars. I havn't looked into home health much but I hear from friends that it pays around $20/hour.
I have only been an LPN for 1 year so all these pay scales are recent. I have heard good things about the TTC-Nashville nursing program. The compass exam is basically reading and math. The math is pretty basic. I would know how to do basic math (division, multiplication) and a little pre-algebra (basic equations). From what I remember The reading part is a lot of "Read these paragraphs and answer these questions about it." I don't know if there is a study guide for the compass or not.
Good luck!!! :-)
