U.S.A. Tennessee

Hi everyone!

I currently live in CT, my husband wants to move to TN to be closer to family. We would be moving to the bristol/johnson city area. I'm currently a cardiac RN (BSN), and was wondering how nursing is in TN. we dont have LPNs up here and from what ive read on here so far TN does have LPNs, what do they do? whats the job differance btwn RN and LPNs on the floors? i currently make $40/hr, ive been a nurse for 5yrs, i know itll be a pay cut, but whats average? how are benefits? do any hospitals offer childcare? any suggestions for where to avoid? sorry for all the questions, and thank you in advance to anyone who answers!!!

Congrats on your move. I am moving from RI to the Bristol area next week. I had an interview on a critical care unit at Wellmont in Johnson City (or was it Kingsport). It was a very nice hospital and everyone was very nice. But they wanted to start me at $18/hour. I'm not sure what the average is, but I couldn't accept that. I work at a skilled nursing facility and have 2 years experience. I'm going to continue with interviews and check out some longterm facilities when I return next week. Hopefully they can do a little better than $18.

18/hr is average for a new grad in E. TN. I don't know what experience will get you, since I haven't gotten that far yet. The cost of living is pretty low here. You would have shift diff as well if you work hours besides reg. days.
