Tennessee Board of Regents Online AASN/ADN program

Published

I'm applying to this program for Fall 09 or if they offer it, I'll be applying for Spring 09. I'm just wondering if anyone else has considered it or knows anyone else who is planning on going through it.

It is a brand new program. Fall 08 is the first semester and only a few colleges are offering it. According to the website, it will be offered at all participating colleges in Spring 09. Roane State doesn't offer a traditional program that starts in the spring so I'm not sure if they will have an online program starting in the spring.

One requirement is some sort of medical license. LPN, CNA, EMT, etc. I'm taking an online CNA course through Tennessee Technology Center this fall. That may keep me from getting into the Spring program since I won't be certified BEFORE applying but I'm still going to apply since I'll be certified before it starts.

which colleges around knoxville are offering it this fall?

None. But I talked to RSCC and they will be accepting applicants for Spring 09.

Is Tennessee Tech in on this?

I know that Vol State CC offers this program. They have a campus in Livingston, but I don't know if that is close enough for you guys. Also, you might want to try the CNA program thru NHC. I am taking it in August and it only takes 3 weeks. It is a Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30 program and it costs $45 for the book and $85 to be certified. From what I have been told, they really want people that will work for them in the program, that is why it doesn't cost anything. But if you do not want to work for them, you probably can pay them a fee. My friend took it and said that she only had to work for them for 3 months in order for the program to be paid for and she got paid on top of that.

It's something to look into! I wish you all the best!

Tennessee Tech's program is brand new. It will be an online CNA They used to offer it through ROCE but they are in the process of switching it to RODP.

The website says that it will start in Fall 08, but my contact at TTC said that it may not start until January. He said that he has a meeting "later this month" so I guess they'll know for sure at registration time. I REALLY hope that it is offered because it would probably push me back to the Fall class.

That ones for the online CNA program.

Roane State is probably the closest AASN program to you.
