Temple College ADN/LVN 2014

Published

I noticed that there has not been a 2014 topic started yet for the Temple College nursing programs. I am getting nervous and want to know if there is anyone out there applying for the same year I am. I will be applying for the ADN and LVN program. So far I have all my pre and co-requisites completed with a 3.76 GPA. I will be taking my hesi test this October, and I also live IN-district. I am nervous and losing sleep over whether or not my scores will be good enough!

I am retaking my hesi next Thursday and praying for a 95. I have been studying so much. I wonder how many applied to lvn

Good luck Rowley!!

hahaha you sound like me and Jordan. We question that every day... "wonder how many people applied to the bridge.."

When my friend April applied to the LVN program, I asked Mr. Chudje (gosh, I forget how her name is spelled) how many had applied to far, and she said April was #89. That was right before the app period closed. But I havent talked to anyone since then!

I am always nosy and curious about that stuff! 89 applicants is not too bad, I expected like 200. When I went to the info session, they said they accepted 64 to Temple and 21 to Taylor last year. For your bridging program Summer (not sure if that is your real name...but I will call you that!...lol) do you get in the program with the adn program or is it a separate program for just the bridging people? Also, were you easily able to get a job right out of LVN school?

Yep, Im Summer. :)

When I bridge, I will start with the 2nd year ADNs.

And, I had a job before I graduated nursing school. They start telling you to apply in Feb/March, plus they have a job fair where different places come and try to coax you into working for them. They love baby nurses. I had a job at S&W lined up for me before I graduated. I started 3 days after graduation and worked as a GVN until I took my boards. That was one thing I really liked about TC. They tried to ensure all of us had jobs before venturing out on our own!!

I love love loved working with babies, Angela! But, after my son was born in September, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy, so I had to back away from babies for awhile.. it was really hard accepting the fact I could never have anymore.

So, I work in Oncology now. Me and Jordan (@JLowery). I LOVE Oncology, but sometimes I miss working with the babies. It was hard on me at first cause I had to poke them and give them IV's, but u get use to it, and in your mind, you tell yourself its for their own good.

But, working with Veterans is a hoot! I love listening to their stories!

Its ok. I realize now that if i COULD have babies, Id be pregnant now, so it would mess with my schooling. And, Ive already been pregnant twice while attempting nursing school, so Im bound and determined to finish now!

I'm so sorry about your baby. Thats awful. I am such a jerk sometimes. I am sitting here whining over what I cant have, and you have lost one of your actual babies. I am so so sorry.

I work pedi home health as needed right now. I love that too! You fall in love with them so easy! Ha! Im so gonna be your patient one day, pressing my life alert button to talk to hot firemen!!

Funniest thing that has happened so far, is one of my FEMALE patients would sometimes get confused and think she was a man, so she would roll up to the nurses desk in her wheelchair, asking me if I had seen her wife.

Loved it.

I think I will stay in Oncology when I get my RN. Since I have worked Onc, I feel like it is my calling! Maybe I will go into Pedi-Onc. I love the relationship patients develop with their oncology nurses. Besides, at least I know while I am there, they will have my full attention and give them the best care I can.

OH NO! Dont feel like a jerk, I wasnt trying to shift what you experienced. I dont think either of our situations are easier or harder than the other. I actually feel like a jerk now because I DONT WANT anymore babies and there is you, who cant. :( I made peace with my baby boy. Its taken a couple of years. He isnt suffering and my Gracie is a tomboy, so I hope that is Braxton coming out in her haha. I went into labor at 24 weeks and he was already coming out as soon as my water broke before anyone could get to me. Nightmare. Theres my (2nd) pregnancy story haha. No More. I only did pedi home health for a month before needing to resign to be home with my own. But im glad to see its not a foreign area. I honestly didnt even think about it until needing a PRN job and it came up in Temple. And that is so funny about your female patient. Atleast you werent mean and pointed in a direction to say "she went that way" haha. Thats great though you found your "ahh ha" area, the calling. :) You seem like a really GREAT nurse!
