Temecula Valley Hospital New Grad Job Fair April 2013 - Southwest Healthcare System

Published

Hey everyone! I thought it would be helpful to start a new thread for the Temecula Valley New Grad Job Fair that happened today. It didn't seem like there was much information they could give as far as the number of people they would hire, when it would start, or when/if they would be calling people. Anyone get info today that they'd like to share? Then we can all keep each other updated on here. Good luck to us all!

Hi sarahneeyah,

The online assessment is not really a test. It asks questions like how would you respond to an angry coworker. It also has you choose whether you strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree with a statement that is given. In my opinion, the assessment shows them what kind of employee you would be. It's a walk in the park! None of the questions involve medical questions like patient care or math.

Thank you so much for responding. I feel better now and I believe that I have to do a meds and EKG test, but I am more comfortable with it. One more question please. Are the shifts 12 or 8 hours long? I was under the impression that I would be working days but I've been reading about 8 hour shifts on the threads. Also, will you be working in icu or medsurg? Have a great 4th of July.

To my understanding, from the interviews that I did at TVH, the shifts will all be 8 hours.

Hi Saphfire,

I wanted to make sure because my mind can't comprehend going back to 8 hours shift quite yet. I received a call from HR about something else today, so I asked for clarification. I was told that the classroom/didatic part of the program will be 8 hours long, but when we start working on the floor, we will be working 12 hour shifts. I read that the shift I applied for was a 12 hour shift, but then I read about the 8 shift thing and I panicked. I love my 12 hour shifts, so I will give any updates if I learn more. Please also do the same for me.

I am an experienced nurse who went to the job fair in May. Interviewed with two people. Did the EKG/med calculation test and online assessment and had another interview a couple of weeks ago. I thought the interview went great! I was told not to worry if I didn't hear anything for at least two weeks. I was told I should hear from them in 2 weeks. Well it has been a little over 2 weeks and I am starting to worry! I asked when I would start and I was told mid to end July for training. The interviewer wasn't sure on how many positions were available and if any training classes had been set up. The whole process seems a bit disorganized to me. I understand there are a lot of people to hire and there must be a lot of applicants to weed through but I would like to know so I can give notice at my other job!!

Hi ladee19,

It's frustrating, I know. I want to know myself so I can give my present employer enough notice. I would like to give at least 3 to 4 weeks notice. Anyway, I was interviewed on the last week of June and I just took the assessment and medication/ekg test over the weekend. Here is what I was told during the interview. They thought that the class would start in July, but during the interview, the person who is responsible of putting the class together came in the room and told them that July is wrong. The class is to start in August(We will see). I applyed for the icu training program for experience nurses. I hope to hear something soon. I think the whole process is kind of crazy because it is a brand new hospital that is starting from scratch. Also, last tuesday, I wrote a thank you note to both of the ladies who interviewed me and one of them wrote back right away. She wrote that they were coming to an end with all of the interviews and that I should hear something soon. I hope to hear something soon. Keep in touch and let me know if you hear something and I will do the same.

Hi Sarahneeyah,

I will definitely let you know if I hear anything. Waiting is the hard part!! I also would like to give my employer 3-4 weeks notice. I also interviewed the last week of June so it sounds like we are in the same boat!

Hi ladee19,

I received a letter today. Did you also? The starting date is 8/20/2013. I am excited because the pay is at least $9 more than what I am making now. I am excited and I hope you have some good news to share.

Hi sarahneeyah,

I got a phone call from HR an hour ago and got offered the position I wanted. Part time days on med/surg/tele. I was told a letter was being sent to me. Not sure what my start date is. Congratulations!!!
