Moving to Central Florida... Can anyone tell me who employs telephone advice/triage nurses???? I am an Rn from California with 33 years experience... our advice center gives advice for Family Practive, pedi, IM, and Ob-gyn... I would like to continue but find it difficult to find employers. I am sure California is not the only state to have numerous advice centers... Someone please give me a clue??? Thanks a bunch. :balloons:

Hi there,
I will be moving to the Sanford ,Florida area within 3 weeks. I too am working in Phone Triage in Michigan. Have been a nurse for 33 years....I would love to stay in phone triage but in my search I haven't found any positions in this new field. My alternate choice is home Care. Let me know please if you find a phone triage position and I will do the same......
Susan :
I was thinking of returning to home care if I could not find a phone advice/triage position in Florida. I was a home health case manager for several years. The very thought of working in a hospital turns me off...I would rather sell t shirts on the beach. It is bad enough knowing that I will probably be making less then half of my salary here in California.
Let me know what you find out and I will do the same... I am not moving until August 04. Best of luck to you. :balloons:

I worked for an HMO for a while and they employed nurses to do case management AND triage by phone.
Paid well but you had to be pretty mentally stable to withstand the administrative insanity.
What am I saying? You've been nurses for how long? You will be fine!!!!
Good luck to you all!!!

Hey Funny Girl...
I worked for Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, and did telephone triage for about a year there...the program is called "Tel-e-kids" and the nurse manager's name is Debi, who is a wonderful person to work for (I had to leave for a daytime only position on another unit)
Hope this helps!
