Thank-you for all of the info. I was just accepted into the program, I am an LPN and I will start my first semester, last year in Spring '10. I just wanted your opinion about splitting up nur 162 and 265. I am aware that I will not graduate in Dec but I feel I should take these classes separate. Alot of peolp has been saying that this is the hardest semester.

It is definiteley the hardest I think! I would suggest splitting it if you are comfortable doing that....it would put you graduating in May versus Dec but making sure you get the material is more important.....good luck!

When I took the transition class in Fall '08 the class was completely on-line but my friend is taking the class now and she says there is some labs days but those days are not often.

Do you have to have working experience as an LPN before you can apply to the program? Or will the clinical experience you do in an LVN program work? Thanks!

Your clinical experience as an LPN will do. They just need to see that you do have an active LPN license. I know any bit of info help!

How did you guys do in the nursing transition class? Also any of you have Marine Husbands that was relocated to South Carolina? I was wondering the steps you took for getting an LPN license, or if you even had to because you are a military spouse. Thanks!

I am in the process of doing just that - once they fix hubby's pay since someone in the military completely messed it up. Go to the following site: http://www.llr.state.sc.us/pol/nursing/index.asp?file=pub.htm#LPN and pretty much follow all of that. It is the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. In a nutshell, money wise (which is holding me back right now!!), you fork out: 114 or 124 (depending if you want a temporary license) for the license, background check 54, and then I think it is 75 to CA for verification of your license (you can check on the CA BVN for that).

Forgot to add - I don't think you need to get a SC license for the VA, can't remember how it works for the Naval Hospital but I think that may be the same.

Thank you lpnkc09. Thats great to know, I would still have to get the LPN for the program i assume, so I will have to get started on that in about 4-5 months when I find out if we are transferring there. I hope We do because the schools in CA are just so darn ridiculous to get into.
