  1. I just got the "results available" tab...I PASSED!!! The trick works! I cant wait to let all my girls know! Good luck to everyone!
  2. does it really take this long? i am logging into Pearson Vue, its been 48hrs but its not showing that my results are available yet...... and does anyone know how much their 900 # costs to get results?
  3. ok guys.....i took my test at about 1045 this morning, and it shut off at 75 questions! my stomach lurched for a minute, but i felt really good. i did the pearson vue trick and I GOT THE GOOD POP UP about an hour-2 hours after taking the test.....will repost when I find out for definite!! Good luck to everyone!
  4. i wanted to jump in here for just a moment...i have only read thru the first page of the post and i am appalled at the fact that you have a new preceptor every shift! and in a ICU for that matter! i too am a new grad that has been accepted into a Neonatal ICU...Our unit specifically pairs the new grad with one preceptor- for the whole orientation process...ours is a little different from most other units- intensive preceptorship with about 6 months on our own in the stepdown part of the unit, then intensive preceptorship in the main unit with the criticallist patients, then 6-12 months in the main unit. It sounds like you truly have the passion for nursing...very on top of things- i think it is natural for new grads to feel unconfident in such a place....please hold on...i think you will be great!
  5. I am taking the NCLEX-RN on Jan 19th @ 11am.....please say some prayers, it has been a very long time coming...I am praying that everyone passes their respective tests on the first time!
  6. Thank you everyone for the great replies! I am going to call the BON this week and get it clarified so I am not driving myself crazy!
  7. I test on 1/19/10 and I plan on not studying starting on Sunday night (test is on Tuesday)....want to have a relaxing night with my family, and go to the movies....the least amount of stress possible...
  8. I am hoping someone can help clear up a little confusion for me. I graduated from TCL in Beaufort SC about 3 weeks ago. I will be taking my NCLEX in a week and a half and will originally licensed thru the state of SC (due to a conflict with the amount of clinical hours we get, so says the GA boards). My question is this: when I go to the GA Nursing boards website, it states that to get a license by endorsement, you must have worked for 3 months as an RN in your first licensed state....Is this true? I hope someone can clarify this....
  9. It is definiteley the hardest I think! I would suggest splitting it if you are comfortable doing that....it would put you graduating in May versus Dec but making sure you get the material is more important.....good luck!
  10. The classes are mostly mornings, but i would say 9-12 on Thursdays and 9-2 or 3 on Fridays (2nd year 1st semester). Then of course whatever your clinical date and time would be. I had MOnday evening clinicals and felt it was a good fit, I could jsut go that morning and get my patient info, go over to the college nad fill out my info for my careplans and then go to clinical from 245-9 pm. Other clinicals were from 645-1p. Not a bad clinical or class schedule.....
  11. The schedule is alright. You generally get either a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday Medsurg clinical date. At some point in the semester you do your rotation for Mental Health which consists of 3-4 2 day a week clinicals, Tuesday and Wednesdays. Lecture for both classes are on Thursday and Friday. You do a bunch of clinicals for medsurg but you do get comfortable. The final semester is kinda nice. Lecture for Nur 275 is on Mondays, and Nur 274 is online with a couple of labs on campus. CLinicals for 275 are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays....Its nice, right now I have the ER rotation and we selected 12 hour shifts since we are the second half of the semester. So we only do one day of clinical a week( which is wonderful!!)....but I dont know if they will offer that again or not......
  12. I can tel lyou that they like to get LPNs in as quickly as possible....so I think you have a good shot! IF your core reqs in math or the sciences are over 7 yrs old, you will have to retake them. And the math they require is Probabilty and Statistics. I took College Algebra which my other program required and so when I transferred, I had to take P&S. It is plausible that you could take the transition course this summer, I think it might be offered then. Get enrolled as a student with TCL and talk to your advisor, when you get closer to that I will be happy to give you my name if its helpful!
  13. I am currently enrolled in the Technical College of the Lowcountry, the 'tech' school you referred to. I have posted info on several other posts so if you can track them down via my ID, it should have a lot of the info you are looking for. I will say that the New River campus is about 20 minutes drive from HHI and the Beaufort campus is approximately 30 minutes drive. NR is great for the first year of classes, then the second year it is just easier to go all the way to Beaufort. I highly recommend the program, it takes a lot of dedication, and doing it with little ones is a little harder. They are strict but I think it can be done by anyone if you are dedicated. Please contact me with specific questions and Iwill try to answer them all!
  14. I finally was able to reply to you! Something about I had not made enough posts? Hope I am not too late! I do know Ihad looked into the Excelsior program, a lot of money to do it and test, and it is totally self taught. If you are not one that can do that to good effect, I would not suggest it. And if you do start it and dont finish, that do not refund any of the like $2800 you pay to teach yourself the material- that doesn't include books or videos you buy to make yourself understand the material better. The TEAS test is harder than the standard NET test most schools use. We just started using it in the past year- year and a half. My class was actually the guinea pig to figure out what they wanted the set level to be at in able to evaluate students for entry in. I am enclosing a link to the handbook so you can check out the requirements : http://www.tcl.edu/Future_Student/Programs_of_Study/Health_Sciences/documents/NursingProgramHandbook2009-10.pdf We have a 92% pass rate for the NCLEX-RN. Here is the link for the Health Sciences div. http://www.tcl.edu/Future_Student/Programs_of_Study/Health_Sciences/NursingProgram.asp Ask anything you want to know!
  15. I can tell you that Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort does not have a waiting list. I know that is a little bit of a drive, we have had students that relocated for the time or have done hotels til they graduate. We had some students from Charleston recently. If you would like more information, please contact me.
