TEAS in 3 Weeks Nervous!

Published

Hello everyone! I am wanting to express my concerns and that I am excited as I approach my TEAS date. I take it March 22nd. I am counting days and I study everyday. I have almost conquered Math, English and Reading with science I am really good with my A&P anatomy and physiology and also life sciences I am in Micro now so I can say that will help with Eukaryotic/Prokaryotic cells, Gram negative, Gram positive bacteria, and cell wall/ cell membrane structures and functions etc. I am having the hardest time with Chemistry though. Any ideas on how to study for this section. I am OK with atomic mass, atomic number, density matter, the basic concepts of chemistry like atoms, molecules its the more in depth stuff. I really want to do well on the test. Any advice would be helpful thanks.

I'm struggling with Chem too. Wish someone would post any helpful sites for that

Yeah there are some questions on the app practice test and ATI that really threw me off. Stuff about Introns, Codons, G1 Phase, S Phase, G2 Phase etc. Lol when it comes to those in depth Chemistry questions I guess at it not a good idea for real test exam purposes but I figure it allows me to retake the test same questions different order. I find that the more I do these practice questions it starts to stick. Good luck!

For what it's worth, I took NO standalone chemistry class, and I felt that my A&P and human bio (my science elective) were more than adequate to prepare me for the TEAS chemistry. From what I can remember, there was very little chemistry. I must have got most the answers right, because I got a 95 on the science portion.

I remember ONE chemistry question where I had NO idea.

I would say knowing the table of elements/properties of the table will get you by in a lot of the chemistry questions. At least, that's how it was on my test!

I wish I could help more, but just study the chemistry in your book/on the practice questions and you should be fine.

Thanks so much this is extremely helpful! And a congrats to you for a awesome science score. I can't thank you enough for all your help. This has given me some hope that I will do well on the test. As days get closer I get more anxious but I continue to do practice questions almost everyday or every few days. Thanks again crazydoglady89.

I took the TEAS 6 with no preparation, that is I signed up to take it two days before the test. I scored an 84 overall (advanced), and the national mean average for my program is 65. So, what I am trying to say is relax. I had no idea the format, types of questions, and areas of testing. You have been reviewing for quite some time, so you are all ready ahead of the game. Here are two really good (and free) Chemistry websites I have used in the past: 1. Khan academy Chemistry | Science |

Khan Academy

and 2. an open source chemistry textbook Home - Chemistry LibreTexts

Good luck!!

Thanks WTSQ31 for the wonderful tips. I really appreciate the encouragement everyone has given me. I am less anxious as the days get closer I have been prepping up some but not to much since I have taken my A&P 1&2, English, Math and now I am in Microbiology so that will help with some of the test. I have been doing practice questions on Khans Academy and I recently discovered a new one called Nursing Academy. I'm sure its not new, however I haven't heard of this one so I looked into it and it was extremely helpful. I looked at the Chemistry section and its broken down so that its easier to understand. For example they go through the step by step process in how to balance equations this works great if you never had Chemistry. I wanted to thank you again for your positive feedback. I will definitely relax as I know going in anxious and nervous only causes test anxiety and may result in a low score so your advice is well appreciated!

I just took the teas exam today and got 91.3%. 85 reading, 94 math, 100 science, 87.5 English. Watch your time in Reading, don't focus too much time on 1 passage. For math, write the question number of difficult questions and come back to it if you still have time. For science, a lot of questions on A&P, but also study your basic bio and chemistry. English, analyze each question coz since it is only a 24 scored question subject, every question is equivalent to 4.42%. English can pull your Point Average down or up

I took the TEAS today. I haven't gotten my score yet but the Science portion is mostly A&P. I think I got two or three questions in chemistry. One thing I remember was that I was asked to balance an equation.

I am beginning to feel more comfortable as test time approaches thanks to everyone's great advice. I have 4 days left so I take every available moment I have and study. I find that the more questions I do the better I get at it so thanks again everyone.

Just know everything about the periodic table asfar as what the diff rows and columns and groups mean. Also know reactions and how to balance them. Know about catalyst and product. Exo endo. Ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Conversions and units of measurement. Volume vs mass. Cation anion. My test didnt go to indepth with chemistry other than the periodic table and an elements relation to its location on table. Had one question involving isotopes couple on using correct units for items weight and distance and volume. Couple on the instruments we learned and used in lab. Pipettes and beakers. You got this. Dont worry
