Teas VI exam (Anatomy & Physiology)

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hi everyone I am currently studying for the TEAS VI exam. I am pretty anxious not knowing what to expect. I have already taken Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and General Chemistry. So my main concern is for the science section do I need to know Anatomy and Physiology in great detail or will a general understanding is all I need? A&P was my most difficult course because of all the memorization.

Thank you in advance!

I took the TEAS in the spring.

From what I remember on my exam, it was weirdly specific things, not a broad overview. Brush up on your chemistry and your A&P -- know body systems, where stuff is in the body etc. I hadn't taken A&P 2 when I did my TEAS, only A&P 1 and I managed to get by with a score in the high 70s on science.

Hey Sim19,

I took my TEAS a couple months ago, and there were definitely some super specific A&P questions. I was finishing up A&P 2 at the time, and one of the questions was on the subject we had literally just heard lecture on a couple days before in class, and I still didn't know the answer.. they had asked something that we didn't even cover. I think that's on purpose though; they will ask you questions that you have to infer an answer to a question you may not be expected to know based on what you DO know. That being said, I did quite well, so don't let that scare you. Definitely review as much A&P as you can.

Hi scobyroo,

Thanks for the heads up. And just curious by very specific do you recommend studying and knowing all the 206 bones, muscles, nerves, etc

Hi scobyroo,

My experience with the TEAS is that you do not need to know the specific bones and muscle names. More so relatively broad things like what is an example of a condyloid joint or how many body systems are there? Don't get me wrong, there were some specific questions also. I remember amylase and/or other enzymes coming up and some more specific questions regarding neuromuscular contractions etc.

Hope that helps a bit! If you have the ability to use the ATI practices tests those were pretty darn close to the level of difficulty and/or specificity to the real test.
