Teas V Exam HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Hey, my name is michelle and im scheduled to take the TEAS V Exam june 26th and Im freaking out I have the mcgraw hills 5 teas practice test book and the ATI manual. I dont even know where to start Im really worried that Im going to fail this test! I know ill do fine on the reading and english sections. But I need some help with the math and science portions of the test. I need to know what to focus on and master that way I can pass these sections of the test. If anyone can please help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I would also add in you should at least do a quick review of the reading and English. I was also a student who found it easy to write papers and proper English just felt "natural" but I decided to read through the review just in case and I was glad I did. It doesn't take very long and if you guarantee yourself a good score on R&L it can help prop you up if you don't do so well in Science and Math.

Also, read the math questions VERY carefully. While i was taking the test I felt like I got every questions right but it turned out to be my lowest score.

Like the other poster said, study for Reading and Language. I am VERY good in both subjects and only got a 81 on Reading and let's not even talk about Language. Just look over that. For that section I felt like multiple answers could have been right. Hard to explain, but I would definately look over that section. I thought for sure I'd ace those sections and I didn't.

The math in the ATI guide is exactly like the test. There were no questions on my test not covered in the book. If you go over that, I think you'll be fine. But when you practice make sure you time yourself. I think I could have honestly gotten a 100 if I had more time on the math part. I ran out of time and had to guess. Know the quickest way to do everything. Like if you are multiplying decimals if you look at the answers and know where the decimal should go, it may only be one choice that works.. so then you don't have to solve the problem. The faster you can learn to get answers.. the better. Also be careful because a lot of the questions will say "Simplify" but the non simplified answer will be there. So make sure you choose the right one.

As for science.. There was nothing on my test that wasn't covered in the book, but there were questions on my test that I don't think the book covered in enough detail so I'm glad I used other books. I don't exactly remember what books I used. I went to the libary and literally got about 5 nursing entrance exam books. I found that lots of those books had better science sections that were more in depth than the TEAS book.

I took both the A and B online practice tests from ATI .... for me they were pricey, but since I was taking the real test on a computer I wanted to try them. They really helped me. The questions were very similar (not the same questions but the same topics).

I took TEAS V as a paper test then did the practice guides and then took the computer version. After reviewing the online practice tests and using the study guide I increased my score by 9% (went from 80 to 89). I focused on Math and Science. I felt like I already had a handle on comprehension and grammer. I was WRONG. There were odd words I have never heard of for my spelling portion, but the trick was to know the rules in the study guides. The part of the test I did the most poorly on was grammer - specifically comma, colon, semicolon. The advice already given about math is right on based on my experience. The science portion for me on both test was right out of the study guide.

Remember to READ THE QUESTION! Twice if you have to! The ones I missed were because I read the questions too fast.

The ATI study book really lays out what to expect. Reviewing it for the math, reading, and English portions helped me out a lot. Even if you do well in reading and English, study these portions. These are two courses I excel in, but I found that some of the wording was tricky, and utilizing the study guide did help prepare me for how things would be laid out. The sciene portion was also tricky. While the ATI book was a great resource, it did not seem to cover everything that was necessary. There were definitely several topics that came up on the test that took me by surprise. Luckily, I had just recently finished both my A&P classes and my microbiology, so everything was still fresh in my memory. I would recommend reviewing your A&P and microbiology in addition to the ATI book. As for the other subjects, the ATI book was a sufficient study guide.

I ended up making an 87.8 on the TEAS and was accepted into the nursing program. Good luck to you!

I would study your textbooks and any notes from the classes. If you Google things like "study anatomy and physiology online," you can find a multitude good, interactive study websites to supplement your textbooks.
