TEAS Test?

Published

I have to take the TEAS test for acceptance into my school's nursing program. I was wondering if any of you have heard of it, and what are your thoughts about it. I'm not worried about it being too difficult, I'm just curious what it's about. Thanks! ;)

awesome!

i take the teas test in feb. that's awesome that your in, congrats!!!

nervous nursey

I didn't think it was hard at all. I ended up with a 91.2%, 99th percentile/nation. I had bought the ATI study guide and took 1 online practice exam and it was way harder than the actual test. I wish I'd saved my money. The highest any one at my school has ever had is a 94%.

I was told that the TEAS is scored by dividing the number of possible questions (170) by the number of questions that were answered correctly and this gives the raw score. I'm not sure if this varies from school to school as I've read from some posters that their schools don't even use the scores from their math and science sections to consider them for entrance.

It is not easy, but it isn't that hard either. I bought the study guide and reviewed it many, many, many times and got a friend to tutor me on the math portion. The hard part is that you don't know what will be on the test, and it is impossible to study everything. Just go over every section and study the area(s) in which you struggle.

The actual test is timed and I forget how many questions per section there were, but we were allowed 3hrs to finish. I finished in a 1.5hrs. Every computer had a different test, and I was distracted by people reading out loud! I was a nervous wreck, but scored 74.5%. They took the top 32 scores and I was one of them.

Hope that helps you. When are you taking it? Feel free to ask me anything you want to know. Good luck!

I took the NET and retook my ACT (for a couple different schools) I didn't study for the NET b/c I studied immensly for my ACT - but when I got my scores for both tests I absolutely failed the reading portion - ENGLISH.great - MATH.great - SCIENCE.great - READING.very low score. Do you have any tips on how to do well on reading comprehension portion?

Student, I don't know how the Teas differs from the Net, but in my opinion, the reading portion of the Teas is the easiest part. If english is your native language, then I think you will be fine. Just read the questions thoroughly BEFORE you read the passage so you know what to look for. There really is no way to study in advance for the reading portion.

A bit late, but this website breaks it down:

It probably depends on the school. My school had a requirement that you score at least a 40 on each section to apply to the program. They said most people who get in score in the 70s, 80s, 90s.

Hi,

My school has a requirement of 50 in each section. I heard you need to get 70 80 or 90 to get in also. I applied for the Fall 08 and I hope to hear soon!! Suppose to hear by March 31:bugeyes:
