How bad is this? Someone just told me they'd never seen someone get into a nursing program with a math score so low. (I ran out of time. )
Adjusted Individual Total Score: 88.2%
Mean - National 72.8%
Mean - Program 77.4%
Percentile Rank - National: 97
Percentile Rank - Program: 93
This was my first and only time taking the test. I am only applying to junior colleges so I did way better than I even needed to, since it's based on a lottery and not actual grades. Here's my breakdown:
Math~91.1%
Reading~97.5%
Science~73.3%
English~87.3%
It depends on your school. I know at my school, you have to have a 82% in reading and overall of 70%. then they used your science, math, and english sub tests to decide tie breaker. if it is still needed they take your AP 1 and 2 gpa, plus give you extra points for CNA, CMA, or Phlebotomy. We can only take it once in a year and hope we do good. I got 80% overall, 90% reading, 80% math, 70% science, and 79%english. So good luck to you.

Got into school on first application even with the crappy math score. Graduated in Dec. 2011 with no math problems throughout school. R.N. as of today!!!

The thing I noticed about the TEAS was that the problems weren't that "hard" but if you're given a certain amount of time to answer them all (and answer them correctly), you have to know to move quickly and make the least amount of mistakes. It helps to have a watch on hand to pace yourself instead of relying on the exam proctor to tell you how much time you have left.
For me, I just went through the problems one by one and answered as many as I could and marked the ones I wasn't sure of. I didn't dwell on one question for too long because I didn't want to waste time I could be using to answer other problems I could potentially get correct. Then I noticed I had some time left with this method so I would go back and review the ones I wasn't sure about. I think these exams are about speed and accuracy so I would practice bringing those two components together to get the best score possible.
Good luck!!
