Maths Help Please

Nursing Students TEAS

Hello, I'm about to take my test in almost 2 weeks and I'm panicking especially for the maths section. Will there be a lot of worded questions?? That's my weak spot. Also, will they give us the formula for the conversion questions?? I'm so nervous help please. Will be studying reading and English this week, and I already covered science and part of the maths. Should I purchase the online practice test. I'm currently using the ATI Study Manual and Mometrix Secret text. I'm so stress as I have a 5 months old I have to be taking care of at the same time. Help!!

Hi Richarn,

I have taught medical calculations and they really are not that difficult. I just posted some dosage calculation problems with the answers and explanations, which some students have found helpful. Also, I will be happy to help if you get stuck. I won't be able available today as I am leaving for the airport soon, but just pm me.

A good part of them are word problems (at least on mine). But they were fairly simple word problems for fractions, ratios, and such.

Conversions between US and metric system were given on mine. But you have to be able to convert among the metric units yourself (i.e. grams to kilograms).

It's fairly basic math. The Mometrix study guide was pretty good on going over what areas were needed for the test.

They are word problems but very simple ones. Most of the test preps I used were far more complicated than the actual test. I ended up getting a 100% in the math section even though that is my worst subject. Very basic adding and subtracting--if a formula or conversion is needed a lot of questions will give that to you. (Ex. it frequently reminds you that 1 inch = 2.54 cm) The one that you should remember if Kg to grams which can easily be remembered as KHDBdcm or King Henry Died By drinking chocolate milk. In which B is base (meters, grams etc)

Relax, you can do this! :)

I just took my test a few days ago. Like others have said, you should be given US to metric conversions, but definitely know how to convert within metric. I also used the Mometrix book and I think the math section prepared me well. Be sure you understand the ratio, percent, percent increase, and fraction problems, which the Mometrix book emphasizes. If you work through the math section in the Mometrix book and understand the examples, you should be fine. :) I also went through the math practice test from Union Test Prep, which was very helpful. As far as the official ATI practice tests, it's up to you. I purchased Practice Test A and took it a couple days before my test. It helped calm my nerves about the test, and also gave me a very good idea of the format of the actual TEAS (in terms of navigating between pages, opening passages on the reading section, etc). It won't make or break you, but it might help ease your stress. :)

Good luck!
