Nursing Students TEAS

Published

I studied on and off for 3 months the TEAS V manual, and read it once cover to cover. So I decided to take the online practice test A to see where I'm at, and I scored a 59.3%. I know it's awful, especially since I did read it (sporadically, not continuously). What do you think I'm doing wrong? Can I have any tips on how to better study for this test. I know I'm not dumb, I did get A's in anatomy and micro, B in physio. I do take test poorly. There were 16 questions that my instinct said one thing, I chose differently and got it wrong. I've been like that all my years as a student, so I know I add to more answered wrong by going against myself, but with that set aside, PLEASE show me how I can better prepare for the test. The things to work on based on my results was everything, I was consistent at 64% on all subjects......... sigh :uhoh21:

Honestly, I did better the day of the actual test. I took the practice tests at my house and found myself getting distracted but when it came to actually take the test, it was game time and I performed well. Look at the break down of the sections where you didn't do as well and review the material again. Also, go with your gut and don't doubt yourself. Panicking is only going to make you do worse so try your best to be as relaxed as possible. Good luck!

If test-taking is your issue, I'd recommend taking several practice tests. McGraw-Hill's 5 TEAS Practice Tests is helpful, because you can get in the habit of timing yourself and learn how to answer specific questions, though I definitely would NOT recommend having it as your only source of study information. The ATI study book is very helpful, as are sites like chem4kids.com, just to brush up on parts of the science section. :)

Good luck!

I did both online practice tests twice, and both practice tests in the book once. Don't panic! Keep going over the material. Find online practice problems for the areas you didn't do well on. Ask people for help. I took the test on May 8th and passed with an 82%. If I did it, anyone can.
