Hi there! I'm working on a hypothetical teaching project. I have been given the prompt of "You are teaching a nursing assistant how and when to use PPE for a client in isolation".
We are required to write 2 behavioral objectives, and I am having problems finding the best wording for mine. I have come up with:
1. (Psychomotor - "How") The learner will demonstrate the donning of PPE in front of the nurse by the end of the training session.
2. (Cognitive - "Why") The learner will explain the reason for the use of PPE for clients in isolation by the end of the training session.
Our objectives must be "specific, observable, and measurable". For my second objective, I feel like it is borderline measurable. The ideal outcome for the second objective would be for the NA to say that PPE is a practice to prevent the transmission of microorganisms.
Any advice to make this better, or do you think it would suffice?

It looks good to me. Here are 2 suggestions: For #1, you may want to say "learner will demonstrate correct donning & removal of PPE...". For #2, you could elaborate to say that the learner will be able to explain the reason for use of standard precautions and each of the transmission-based precautions. Good luck.

I agree with MarieB :)
Oh very good!! Thank you for your suggestions :). I hate it when I know what I want to say, but just cannot get it worded correctly. Thanks again!~

I agree with the suggestions given by the previous posters. As for your learning to phrase things ... that's a skill that come with time and practice. Practice ... Practice ... Practice You seem well on your way.
