Teacher to Nursing?

I have an acquaintance who is a CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist). I have studied the career and have determined that it is what I want to do. Here's the problem. I am currently a high school foreign language teacher. I've only taken Anatomy and Micro. According to my friend I would need to go back and get my BSN, work in critical care for 1 year and then I could apply to anesthetist masters programs.

Do you think this is feasible? I don't want to lose my income, but I am willing to if it is required of me. Would most schools require me to simply complete the BSN requirements since I have a BA already? Thanks for the help.

Yes, you absolutely must have a BSN. Some schools require 2 years of critical care experience as well.

It's a tough long road, but has financial rewards, as well as others at the end.

What's best in your situation is to find an accellerated BSN program, which is a year (after preqs like A&P, Micro, etc.) and all the students have previous BA degrees in something else. Doing this program would require you to not work because it's so intense. The CRNA program is very intense as well.

Anything is feasible if you have determination.

Some CRNA programs require you to work in critical care for 3 years.
