i'm in search of any information/advice pretaining to the final semester of nursing school at tcc. i have heard the final semester at tarrant county college has been known to fail out many nursing students.
is there any recent graduate willing to offer advice concerning materials that would be beneficial to pre-read on for pedi, ob or adult complex? any information would be helpful and will be greatly appreciated.

what?? imo, the last semester at tcc is the easiet, by far!
why would you need to pre-read for pedi, ob? you've done
those classes already, right? you still need to study, but
i found that the last semester was very smooth. i didn't
know of any body that failed last semester, although i'm
sure it can happen if one gets slack on their studying.
sorry everyone for the wording mistake what i meant to write was " last semesters. " :smackingf
i have heard some scary things about both pedi and ob.

IF you are going to fail out, it will be in Pedi or OB 9 out of 10 times..mostly pedi. Advice: stay on top of things, read as much as you can (it's nearly impossible to read all the material), basically the same advice for all of nursing school. Study groups are good!!!

since i took pedi/ob in the fall of '08... there have been leaps & bounds of improvement as far as ob is concerned... i know many seniors from this last semester that mentioned in our surveys that something, anything needed to be done to change it. from what i heard this past semester, ms. blue (fantastic teacher) took over ob and really changed how the material was taught. and for the first time in a long time all students actually passed the second test of the semester....ask anyone in my class or from before...unheard of. as far as pedi goes, i didn't have any problems with it. but i studied the book (s&s, interventions, meds) as it pertained to the different disease processes and had no problems what so ever. the notes that had been going around for pedi weren't helpful at all. the book is set up in a manner that makes it easy to read and review.
and once you get to complex.... it will be a breeze, for the most part. there is only one teacher that i have heard gives her students a hard time in clinical, but just hope you don't get that one. i don't know whether the material gets easier, or if it all just finally "clicks." you will find mr. mcgraw, ms.gaw, and ms.kupper to be some of the most helpful instructors! they want you to pass and will hold extra study groups if that is necessary. they are really wonderful and excited about making new nurses out of us!!
good luck!!
