I'm trying to get into one of the Tcat LPN programs in the west tn area. I took the compass test about a week ago in Jackson and pass.I have applied to the Ripley school because they are the only school that has a new class starting in January 2016 to my knowledge, and that's close to me. If im not accepted in Tcat Ripley, I do plan on applying for all the other Tcat schools that are with in a 30 mile radius of Jackson. Just hoping and praying that I am accepted!!
How do you think you did on the questions? There was maybe one or two questions that were worded in a confusing way, so I'm hoping that I fully answered them, and I think I was one of last two or three people to leave who got there on time!! I guess the one's who left before me, started answering their questions before the orientation actually stated or something!!
Oh, I think I did great on the questions. I was very mindful to give good answers & to fill up all the lines given.
I think you're right too. Other people must have started their questions before or during the orientation. I couldn't figure out how everyone got done so fast. I thought I was done & then I turned the page & realized there were a few more questions on the front side!
Are you planning on working while in school?
Well, yea I do plan on working about 3 to 4 days a week!! I'm currently working a 4 hour shift 7 days a week!! I go in from 6pm - 10pm, but after I heard how difficult this program is, I have talked to my bosses about cutting my days!! I'm so nervous about getting!! Hoping and prayer that we do!!
I don't think we'll have a problem getting in. At this point, I'm expecting a phone call tomorrow.
If clinicals are going to be during the hours we are at school, then I will be able to remain full time and I'm hoping to do so. I can pull money out of savings in order to pay my bills but I worked so hard to build my savings and I hate to pull money out of savings when I'm already pulling $7,500 out for school.
I was one of the people that was hit hard when the economy crashed and when I was able to get back on my feet, I decided to work 2 jobs so I could pay my car off quickly and pay my bills and build my savings back up.
So I don't think working weekends or 2 nights a week is going to be too much for me to do and keep up with school. When I heard the students say, be prepared to work hard, forget about sleep and having a life, it really didn't scare me because I've been doing that the past couple of years. I feel like I really have an advantage over the rest of the class because my body is already conditioned to a lack of sleep and hard work.
I've been working 80 to 100 hours a week the past year & a half so I know I can handle the program. I'm actually looking forward to going to school because I won't have to work so many hours.
Oh, well you are certainly better conditioned then me!! I cherish my sleep!! At times, I feel like I can't function without it, so the lack of it, is really going be hard on me, but I'm good at adjusting, so think I'll be ok!! I'm currently only working 28 hours a week, but I think I'm going go down to about 16 hours!! My husband works, and we have kids, so I really believe the only way my household can continue to work properly, is for me to work less while I'm in school!! Plus since I work at nights, I don't get to spend much time with my kids during the week, so me only working weekends, will also give me more time with them throughout the week!!
