I'm trying to get into one of the Tcat LPN programs in the west tn area. I took the compass test about a week ago in Jackson and pass.I have applied to the Ripley school because they are the only school that has a new class starting in January 2016 to my knowledge, and that's close to me. If im not accepted in Tcat Ripley, I do plan on applying for all the other Tcat schools that are with in a 30 mile radius of Jackson. Just hoping and praying that I am accepted!!
I completely agree. Those are the qualities that all nurses should have. And I'm not really sweating the interview process either.
My plan is to attend Dyersburg State Community College after TCAT for my RN because they seem to have a much easier process for transitioning over. But I will have to complete a prerequisite before I can apply so I'll have to take that course while attending the LPN program.
I haven't decided on a school for my BSN. Not sure if I should save a few grand & time by getting my BSN online or attend a university so I can take clinicals during the course (which would give me more clinical experience). I've looked into a few universities & I couldn't believe that even the BSN programs were competitive to get into (unless you do it online).
My ultimate goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Gerontological care but I'm going to walk before I run. I'm going to first work as RN & gain my experience, learn more about the science of nursing & make my decision from there. I know it's easy to make plans when you're looking into it from the outside.
I'm so excited!! I just got a call from TCAT Ripley about 20 minutes ago and they are sending me a nursing packet that needs to be filled out, completed and turned back in to the school by November 20th.
The lady I spoke to said they have changed their process up and are doing things a little differently. Not sure exactly what changes they are making but I am happy to hear from the school none the less. Have you received a call yet?
Yes, I was notified also!! I received an email from Ms.Tanya asking me to confirm my address, so that I could receive a nursing packet!! I immediately called and confirmed my address, and that I was still interested in the program!! She also told me they are doing thing a little different this year!! I'm so excited!! Have you submitted your fasa yet?
Yay for us!! I can't wait to get the packet and start filling it out. I was told this is the second step in their process.
I haven't filled out my fasa yet but I usually never qualify for any assistance. No matter how little I make it's never little enough. Or maybe I just haven't mastered the art of filling one out. lol
I talked to my tutor last night and she told me that Ripley may have pushed the deadline back on the compass scores because they may not have had enough qualified applicants.
Also, I came across some paperwork that I received at the Covington location when I passed my compass and I noticed that they mentioned orientation would be 4 hours long. I wonder if we are interviewed at the orientation or if they call you back in for an interview? Why would it be 4 hours long?
Yes yay for us!! I was wondering the same thing about them moving orientation back, and I also thought that may have been the reason. Maybe the orientation in at the Ripley campus won't be as long since they are allowing us to do the paper work at home!! I do expect them to explain the the in's and outs of the program, but Im not sure why it would take four hours. I have heard that some campus no longer do interviews. Did she say anything to you about letters of recommendations? She mentioned something about that to me on the phone!!

Im not to worried about the interview process. Because I am very confident in my reasons for wanting to become a nurse. I a very compassionate and sympatic person. I really enjoy helping others, and I tend to be able to keep my composure under stressful situation. I don't mind getting my hands dirty and a very quick learner. From my experiences in the allied nursing field, and in my opinion those are all qualities need in nursing.
