TCAT McMinnville Hybrid LPN Program

Has anyone looked into this option? Currently looking into it for Spring 2019. Are there any current or former students that are willing to share their experiences or answer some questions in regards to how clinicals and classes work? Also, did you have to take both A&P I and A&P II or just the A&P class on the TNECampus?

Hi, I graduated in December 2017 from this program. You have to take A & P I and A & P II and Dosage Calculations before you apply.Classes are two days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays. Clinicals start in the 1st Trimester after you finish the Fundamentals of Nursing course. The times for clinicals vary with the location. Hospitals was from 5:30 AM to 3:00 PM and 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Psych 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, LTC 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Ask me anything, I will be glad to answer.

Congrats! Have you taken the NCLEX-PN yet? Did you take A&P I in one semester then A&P II in another semester? I planned on starting in the summer. I saw the TNECampus had A&P for Allied Health? I wasn't sure if that was the correct course. Also, how are the lectures formatted? Is it through D2L or TNEcampus and I saw somewhere that it's a lot of powerpoints? Were clinicals every day or just 2 days per week as well?

I will be taking my NCLEX in February. I took A & P 1 & 2 before i applied to get into the program. They require you to have that completed before you apply. You can enroll in the class while taking the A & P and get a conditional acceptance, you must pass your A & P to start school. The A & P is through D2L but you can take onground classes in TCAT-Mcminnville, think the classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening. When I took it, I utilized my books and youtube videos because most of it is self taught. Clinicals were two days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays.

I took the classes A & P and Dosage Calculations classes before filing out the formal application. You can fill out the formal application. You will just indicate that you are taking the prerequisites on D2L.

I'm gonna take my pre-reqs online(I live in Murfreesboro). So you took both A&P I and II instead of just the Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health? Thats the course I saw listed on there. What format are the actual nursing courses in? Is it on D2L or Ecampus as well? I see it's a lot of "self taught" from what I've researched, but what resources were you given?

That's the A & P you take. The nursing courses are pretty much 'self taught'. No lectures are given. They just give powerpoints available on D2L and that's it. You have to teach yourself all the other stuff.

Ok good. I was confused when you said I & II. Yikes. How do the tests work? Do you take them when you go in on Monday and Wednesdays? Do you feel like the professors were helpful in a sense that it is "self taught" but did they answer your questions? Also, how many people stayed until the end?

First trimester we had the tests on Mondays and Wednesdays. Second trimester and third trimesters the tests were at home (you have to use a camera to be proctored). All final tests were taken at the school. The professors aren't that helpful. You have to study and use other resources to get through this program. It is a tough one.We had 8 students graduate.

I'm kind of scared now lol. So the the 2nd trimester, clinicals basically took place of Monday/Wednesday tests? Just trying to make sure I understand. And if you could do it again, would you have chosen to do the hybrid program still?

Yes, 2nd trimester, the clinicals are on Mondays and Wednesdays. The tests were online and taken at home on Tuesdays, Thursdays. I chose the hybrid program because I was working and the school schedule worked out for me. I would choose this hybrid program again. You have to be self disciplined to succeed in this program and manage your time wisely.
