I'm just wondering about what TCC will be looking at (GPA or TEAS score?)I'm making a B in Micro & A in A&P I,I'll be taking bio & a&p II next semester and hopefully be able to apply for the Spring '10 program... very very sad :crying2: because I didn't make an A in Micro, but is there anyone got accepted into the program with 1 or 2 B's in science?:cry:Will good score on the TEAS helps make up for that?

Thank you,:D

It's both really. I had A's in everything except Chem with a B. I did really well on my TEAS. A friend of mine had okay grades, but didn't do well at all on the TEAS. She was told she would have to get that TEAS grade up, but they didn't seem too concerned about her GPA. So, she's going to have to retake the TEAS before applying again. Keep in mind that it's also going to depend on what kinds of GPAs and TEAS scores your competition has when you apply. Having as high grades as possible will only help you. Good luck!

It is possible to get into the nursing program with B's....

I have a friend who made a B in every single one of the 4 science classes she took...and got in. Hard to believe, but true. Don't be discouraged, it all depends on the application pool.

I know of some who got in with mostly all Bs in science courses. It really all depends on the competition a the time......if there are many with As, they're going to be accepted first. I had one B in science and an 80 something on my TEAS. Got in on first try. Just try to get those As so you'll be more competitive. You still may make it with Bs.

I got in with a B in Chem and a B in A&P I (I was literally a half a point away from an A!). I did have a high TEAS score though- in the 97th percentile, and A's in most everything else. Just keep your head up and give it your all!

Depends on the pool. Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't get in with Bs. I know a couple folks who got in with 2 Bs in the sciences. I also know someone with 4 As in the sciences, an 85% on the Teas and a 4.0 GPA who did not get in a few semesters back, but she got in the 2nd time she applied. So, it just depends on the scores everyone has and how many of the prereqs you have done. Students with all the prereqs completed compete better than those who don't. Even a 1 credit PE class can keep you out if 100 folks have everything completed.

this reply made me personally feel a million times better. just knowing that there was someone at one point who made it through with "un-perfect" grades.

i totally feel your pain!! i had an 89.4% in micro. i begged and prayed that she'd have some sympothy for me and go ahead and give me an a. but no - there's a big fat stinky b next to my micro grade. grrrrr!!!!!!!

Like everyone has said it depends on the pool. But if for some odd reason you don't get accepted....ask them why!!! I was not accepted on my first application try and met with the lady that reviews every applicant's information. She pulled out the HUGE spreadsheet and looked at my information. It showed that I hadn't completed Micro...but I had!!! It was my error, I submitted a transcript that wasn't the most recent one from a prior college. Since this is a career change for me I was in a hurry, but had a job to get me through the wait till the next application period. I was told to reapply and that there wasn't any need to retake any of the classes or the TEAS (she had the scores right in front of her). I made it in the next semester...and I graduate this May!!! Good luck!! (And while I didn't know about this before I had applied, I was told by some peers that they were able to meet with admins to review their applications before the application deadline.)
