Tarrant County College Spring 2021 Hopefuls

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hey, everyone!

How many of you are applying to TCC's regular track nursing program for Spring 2021? Admittance is ranked by HESI scores only. I'm finishing up my last 2 prerequisites now and will be applying with a 94.4%. Good luck everyone! What is your HESI stat?

Hey! I will be applying for Spring 2021. I’m in Micro now and have already finished A&P 1 and 2. I took the HESI back in February and got a 93 (I was barely into A&P2) and took it again this week and got a 97 so I’ll be submitting that.

Getting the titers and doing all that legwork seems more difficult and time-consuming. It’s driving me nuts lining it all up.

That's a great score! I thought I was going to end up with something closer to that until I got to the reading section last. My scores were math:100 AP: 100 Grammar: 96 Vocab: 96 and reading: 80 ? I should have studied for that section. The cutoff last application period was somewhere in the 90.0 range so we will be fine. I got my titers already. The only things I have left are remaining HEP A & B shots and my TB skin test. It is stressful making sure you don't forget anything. I'm taking AP2 and Micro for Summer and it's no joke...

Has anybody taken A&P online? In the Summer? How hard (condensed) is it? Thanks

Hi Carina,

It is very fast paced. As soon as you get something down and are tested, you're onto the next thing. I have 2 lab quizzes per week. 2 lectures per week to watch. And lecture assignments as well. My lecture teacher is also unorganized and highly confusing. I just keep telling myself I need a C or better to be honest.

I took it in person for A&P 1 in a five week Summer course last year. It was intense. That was a full-time job in itself (and my teacher was wonderful).

I took A&P 2 this Spring and of course it got moved online. My teacher (same one) was really good about working with you and figuring out workarounds for lab, etc. I did notice my grades go down slightly though just because it became much less personable and we used McGraw Hill Connect for mostly everything.

Thanks! My prior score was a 93 and it’s because my A&P was an 83, so pretty much the same problem you had. I was about three weeks into A&P2 though so that was to be expected. I mainly took it just to get a feel for it and I’m glad I did! It made me a lot more confident for the second time. It couldn’t be worse than a 93! I was shocked that it was pretty much exactly the same test. Reading comprehension was the exact same.

I’m pretty sure that TB is for after you’re accepted. I’ve emailed them to confirm and I’ll report back. Everything I’ve seen seems to indicate that though (Feel free to be ahead of the game though!).

Good luck with doing both! I’m hating Micro. Most of it is the professor. I’m super glad selection is based on a HESI score with a C or above now with the grades because I’m just hoping for a B at this point.

Hello there! I ended up submitting my application today, actually - although, I am a bit nervous. Though, I aced all of my science pre-requisites with high A's, and I got a 94.4 on the HESI. I am unsure if these stats are good enough, but I have my fingers crossed.

Congratulations, I got a 94.4 as well! Grades in pre-reqs are no longer considered for admission. Only HESI score. I'm finishing up my last 2 pre-reqs now and will apply in August. Last application period, the cut-off for acceptance was 90.XX something, so we should be in! There's a group on facebook that about 40 of us are in. If you look up "Tarrant County College Nursing Spring 2021" you can join us :)

From what I understand, the grades only become a consideration if there is someone who ties you for a spot (if all the spots are filled with high-ranking applicants). Fingers crossed we all end up getting in with all of the hard work we've dedicated to coursework. Hopefully your Summer classes are going smoothly!

Yes exactly, except I heard they are looking at your score on the A&P and Math section of the HESI as a tie breaker (according to someone that asked the nursing department), but the department hasn't come out and said it so that may just be here-say. Summer classes are going as smooth as expected LOL, halfway done! I am excited to start this journey to say the least.

That is very interesting, indeed. I wonder if that is what they'll use to evaluate each applicant if the prior situation arose. That is amazing! I'm glad they're going well. I think we all have the same mentality in that regard, wanting everything to begin as quickly as possible that is.
