I know you get your acceptance letter for the upcoming semester (Spring 2010) before Thanksgiving but can anyone get more specific?
Also, I wonder how I match up w/ 2 A's and 2 B's in the sciences, a 3.522 gpa, and 86% science 51% math TEAS scores (72.9% overall score). Anyone?
Thanks, I will talk to her after I get my letter. I am just going to plow through all the math questions I know next time. Then go back and fill in the blanks.
I don't think the teas will let you skip and go back. I know if your in the nursing program, their online exams are the same way, you can not skip a question and go back. Same with nclex, no skipping. They want you to answer then and there, as in the real nursing world, if you dont' know something you can't skip it, you have to address the problem right then and there. Good luck.
I'm just finishing up my first year at TCC and I had almost all A's (one B) in the sciences, A's in everything else, and I made 95% overall on my TEAS. I can tell you that on my TEAS, my lowest grade was in the science portion because I dedicated so much time to the math as I feel that is my weakness. I got in, but I know many people who didn't have anywhere near those kinds of grades. My point is that it depends on your competition. Yes, TCC is a competitive program and it's hard to get in, but keep your chin up. The negativity you have received is distressing to me because no one knows who will get in and who won't until it's all said and done. As a matter of fact, I've only met a few people who actually made A's on the TEAS. MAny, many made in the 70's. And of those people who maybe didn't have a 4.0 are making excellent nurses. I would trust them with my life because they care, are very dedicated, and know their stuff.
Like I said it all depends on your competition. Don't give up and if you don't make it the first time, apply again. Try at least twice if not three times because TCC is such a great program and TCC graduates are very well regarded in the medical community. Good luck to you and don't get down on yourself. You've worked hard. Keep it up and hopefully you'll realize your dream.
I think you are right, it is very stressful to read some of the comments being posted. I attended a scholarship dinner in early October, and i spoke with alot of nursing students who will be graduating this December, and they said they know people who got into the program with lower grades than 70's on the TEAS. this is actually my second application, the first time I didnt have everything completed and my grades are as follows: 3 A's in my sciences and 1 B in chemistry for a 3.75 in my sciences and a overall GPA of 3.7 and my teas scores were 72. plus i got one of the extra courses..medical terminology, I try not to listen to all the negativity, I talked to Bev a couple of weeks ago and not as many people applied this go around, which greater the chances and also i asked her if anyone got in with 70's on their TEAS and she said probaly.. thats hope enough for me, but we shall see, and good luck to all spring 2010 applicants. if you dont get in the first time, do what i did and continue to take classes. they will be benificial for you in the long run if to desire to get your BSN.

Do you know Bev, the secretary in the nursing dept? Go to her and ask her opinion. That's where I went right after seeing my TEAS at 89%, I just knew I wouldn't get in with that score, I was bummed out pretty bad. I showed it to her and she said that was good. It just gave me tremendous relief to hear her say that.
I think your TEAS score is what will hurt you the most, esp in math. There is so much emphasis placed on medication math at TCC and your teas math score, well, it speaks for itself. I'm sorry. If you take teas again, concentrate on math much more.
You can ask Bev what would be in your best interest, but first wait for the letter. You may have a chance, it just depends on what your competing against. If there are lots of 4.0s, then your chances are lessened, but you never know, it just may be good enough. Good luck, keep us posted.
