Tallahassee Community College FALL 2020 Nursing Program

Hey guys =),

This is a really hard time right now for everyone due to the COVID-19 outbreak and health professional deadlines have been changed/extended for I'm guessing a lot of colleges (at least at TCC they have I believe). I was wondering if there is anyone out there who is planning on applying for the TCC nursing program for Fall 2020? I just wanted to start a thread so that we can all connect during this crazy time!

Hey there!

I've actually applied to Tallahassee Community College for the Fall 2020 nursing program! I'm glad you started this thread so we can connect with others who have interest. I am a little concerned about how corona might affect admission decisions as they have waived the HESI criteria for all applicants. I scored very high on my HESI and was looking forward to make sure it counted so I would be a more competitive prospect.

I'm so happy someone found this message board LOL! I actually never took the HESI but was studying for it in case we might have to still take it. The HESI was a big part of admissions prior to COVID-19 since grades originally only counted for a maximum 40 pts of admission (4.0 possible GPA *10). I think grades will be the most/only deciding factor for getting into the program this semester =(. I was told the grades for admission would come from ENC1101, any college level math class, PSY2012, DEP2004, HUN1201, BSC2085/lab, and BSC2086/lab. I completed the corequisite MCB2004/lab but I don't think it will be counted at all this semester.

Hey!! I'm so happy I found this thread!! I applied to the program for the fall as well and I can't wait to find out. My GPA is at a 3.82 so I'm hoping I have a good chance at getting in. I didn't yet take the HESI either. I was getting ready to start studying for it, but honestly I'm very relieved that it was waived!!

I'm just really hoping that everything is back to normal by the start of the program. I would hate for it to have to be online! Also, you are correct with the Microbiology class. It's not counted towards your GPA for prerequisites.

When I calculated my GPA I have a 3.8 too! I know there's going to be some applicants who might have A's across the board and have a 4.0 GPA. I was told by the advisor that they're going to try to accept more students this semester but they don't have an exact number yet. I'm hoping that will increase my chances of getting in!

My advisor said that the average GPA admitted is usually around 3.3. I'm confident in my GPA, but also somewhat scared still!!

Oh okay, that's really good to know! The only thing we can do now is wait! I think we're supposed to hear back on July 15th, it is really nerve wracking to wait that long ? .

I know, it feels like its soo far away!! I heard July 15th from somewhere too, but couldn't remember where. Does it say that online somewhere?

The last time I checked I didn't see an exact deadline online but they did say it usually takes 3-6 weeks from the deadline date to get a response. I spoke with the advisor and he sent an email that went through the pre-requisite requirements and it also mentioned that results would be sent out on July 15th.

Hello! I am a little confused on if I should’ve applied for fall or wait till Spring 2021. I’ll be finishing up my prereq’s this Summer. I emailed the advisor and he sent me the application For fall 2020 so I went ahead and applied. We’ll see what happens??‍♀️ It’s a waiting game now!

I think I saw somewhere on the website that prereq's for Spring of 2021 start date need to be finished by Summer 2020. So I'm gonna take a guess and say that for Fall of 2020 start, prereq's probably needed to be done by this past Spring of 2020 semester that way they can see the grades for the class. I'm not 100% sure though and they might be making exceptions because of the COVID19 situation!
