Taking a Year Off? Did not pass TEAS.

Hi there,

so a little about me, I am a sophomore pre-nursing student and I just took my TEAS exam today and I was 4% away from getting the score that I needed and I am honestly really bummed about it. That being said, since I did not pass it the second time, I have one more chance to pass it 3 months from now and I will not be able to apply officially into my school's nursing program until next year and I am not really sure what to do apart from working and saving up and taking a couple more courses over the summer.

I was hoping that I could get some advice on what I should do in the time I have while I am out of school for about a year since i cannot afford another semester and how to make sure I pass my TEAS this final time.

Thank you all so much. :)

I'd buy a book for the TEAS exam. Maybe ask a tutor for help. What about getting your CNA? It only took 3 weeks for me. You can at least learn some basic nursing skills doing CNA work (And to see if you actually like the nursing field) so you can be ahead. Study study study.

How did you previously study?

Hi giraffe,

this all very helpful advice. I was strongly thinking about getting my CNA. I already have a review book and realize that I might need to utilize different resources. As far a studying, I really believe that studying even more is the only sure thing I can do.

Which review book did you use? I would recommend the official ATI TEAS manual. It's about $20-25 on Amazon for a new copy. If you look at your score report, it will actually give you specific page numbers what you need to review. This way your studying is more focused so you can pay more attention to what you don't know instead of "wasting time" on concepts that you are doing better in.

Specializes in ICU.

What is considered "passing"? It's not really a pass/fail test so I'm curious.

Teas tests your basic knowledge in math, science, reading, and language. How did you do in your prereqs? That's where you learn the knowledge for Teas.
