Taking the weight off after nursing school

At the end of nursing school, we did a survey and the average weight gain was 20 pounds. I thought that after I started working, the weight would come off as easily as I put it on  (HA)

I find now that I'm working, it is not coming off as easy d/t constantly picking up shifts and no time to go to the gym(I barely have enough time to sleep!).

Is any one else having trouble taking the extra weight off? And if so, what are you doing to help???

I have lost 30lbs since graduating 5/6/05!! I hope it keeps coming off.....I used to weigh 120-130lbs about 7 yrs ago, but got up to 220. I just hope at 37 y/o, I don't end up being on Discovery Channel having one of those 'trashcan full of skin' removal stories:p EWWWWWWWWWWW!

Don't take ANY money to work with you. If you do need money before/after work for gas or a trip to the store, hide it in your car or use your debit/credit card for the purchase.

The vending machines are just too tempting for a convenient bite to eat in a rush.

Our breakroom and staff are pretty cool about respecting others belongings in the refridgerator except for the occaional overzealous one who tosses everything. (marking your name and date on the items helps), so I put one of those toss away Glad containers with baby carrots in the refridgerator to nibble on. It's actually easier than fumbling for candy bar money, doesn't give you Dorito breath, and a dash of low calorie dressing spices it up when it's too boring and you have a little time to sit down and nibble.

A stash of yogurt is small enough to be eaten in seconds too and will satisfy my sweet tooth (especially the kind with hunks of strawberry or peaches. (I do hide those in a fabric lunch bag though as they tend to grow feet out of the fridge if visible even when marked).

And never underestimate the power of a cup of water to curb the 'snackies' (gee-how convenient we have an ice machine right on the floor).

I haven't perfected all my vices yet, but I'm working on it. I have 40 pounds to go to my goal.
