I took the TEAS V this morning and checked my results..not so good.
I will be taking it again in a couple weeks and hopefully I will do better.
I do not recommend the McGraw-Hill's study book. I studied that book for 2 months and I don't feel like it helped me at all on this test. It seemed like the book was way more complicated than what the test was. I over complicated it and it just made it worse for me.
Hopefully I will do better the 2nd time around.

get the ati book...really helpful! I think I still have mine. I'd be willing to sell it for nearly nothing.

I agree, the ATI book had exactly what was on the exam, which makes sense since the test is from the same company. I was able to check it out free at my school's library.
Honestly, the hardest thing for me is probably how they ask questions... I know the answers its just the way they word them on the exams that I start to doubt myself... Oh well, ive studied the ati book from cover to cover and im just gonna do my best tomorrow!!!
My dh said the same thing, he told me it's not that I don't know how to do the problems but the way I am reading the questions. I am either reading to much into it or not enough to figure out the question they are asking. I know if I can get pass this test and get into a LPN program I will do good. I can do drug calculations without any problems. I know how to do those. It's just these stupid questions like
Joe Blow can paint a house in 4 hours and Plane Jane can paint a house in 6 hours, how long will it take them to paint a house together ?? (yes there was a similar question on the test.) I can't figure out how to wrap my head around that to do the actual math. I know it's a proportion but I can't remember the formula for figuring it out.
Now if there was a question about dosages I can figure that out.
Order-Dilantin 50 mg p.o. TID
Drug available-Dilantin 125 mg/5ml
you take the ordered dose (50mg) / dose available (125mg) x route of admission (5ml tablet/liquid)
50mg/125 x 5ml =
2ml
A nurse I worked with would show me all the drug calculations. She even taught me how to calculate IV drips and Infusions. We just did it for fun when we had some downtime.
Those formulas I know.
But this other basic stuff I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anything at this point will help.
