I am a father of 2 wonderfull daughter 5 and 2. After passing my BSN in December 2004, with A's and B's, my final Grade was low B. I was very confindant and hopeful that it will be ok. I took NCLEX twice and failed it. It broke my heart, my confidence and my spirit. I decided to heck with it and never take it again. It has been five years, and it always felt like something is missing from my life. Now I am feeling that it nursing that can fill the void in my life. So I started getting ready for the exam and have been studing from last month or so. I am also planing to take Kaplan. My question is when is a good time to take Kaplan? Asap or right before the NCLEX. All of the responses are appreciated. I posted yesterday and didn't get one comment. Please help me, I need all the help I can get. I wanna pass this time for me and for my angles.

I would say you need to be doing it now and preparing yourself. Although I didn't use Kaplan I did practice approx 100 questions a day and read the rationale. made sure I understood what the question was asking me and that I was able to if nothing else discard 2 of the answers straight away leaving me to decide with what was left what was the most important one left

Hi, I read your post and totally relate. I graduated in 2001 and recently took an intense review with clinicals and all. It was amazing and I recommend you do the same. You have to recall all that info that has been dormant for a long time. I live in FL and can recommend a great review. I will be sitting for boards in December. After the review finished all I have been doing is about 150 questions a day. I use Exam Cram, Nclex 3500 and as my base/foundation/backup Saunders.. but it is really easy and I only use it when I need to understand something better. Saunders is a great book and has a great CD but the Question are not very close to Nclex like the other 2 are. This is just my opinion and if you need any help, just let me know.

Oh another great book is Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment. Nclex is really cracking on this.

Good Luck

Thanks for you input gisela75. I have Saunders and Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment. Both are great books. I have not started the questions yet. I do some here and there and my sore are mostly in high 50%. I don't know how good it that but gives me some confidence. I also have all of my text books from the nursing school and I am using them to prepare. I know I have to put most efforts in Pharm and A&P. But I have a feeling I can do it this time. I sure would like to stay in touch. I am new here so I dont know how to get your email, but send me one if you know how to find it. I think I will be taking Kaplan sometime next month and will be taking my boards in January if not Dec. Good luck to you. Please stay in touch, by the way I am in Maryland.

Thanks Silverdragon. I know that, thats why I didn't post my email address. Anyhow, thank you all for your input and comments. May God help us all to fullfill our potentials.

It must be hard for you to failed nclex 2x, I myself failed it twice but passed nclex-rn on my 3rd attempt few weeks ago. I used Kaplan course online it took me 6 weeks to finished them. Make sure that if you decided to take Kaplan course, that you put 1000x effort into it, must watched all the content and videos that are in it because there are lots of information there that are really helpful. Then you must focus on infection control, pharmacology, and prioritization/delegation type of questions. By the way on my 3rd attempts i passed nclex-rn with 75 questions. Good luck to you hope you pass on your 3rd attempt.

Thank you havefaith. Thats what I plan to do. I have to give it 1000x effort and my 100% dedication to pass it. I know I am not dumb and I am a smart guy, sometimes it take more than one or two times. I lost heart and motivation, that has gotten me nowhere. It left a void in me, like something is missing. I know what it is. Its so good to have all the friends here and get all the tips and encouragement. I don't know what I would have done without all of you. Thank you each and everyone of you who took time to read my post and answer it. It really helps. Hopefully I can call myself and RN soon. I am looking forward to it and past that. I am planning to get my Practitioner degree as soon as I am eligible to enroll in a shcool. Love you all, May God bless you all.

Hey August, I will help in whatever I can, I am usually syudying all morning til about 1pm eastern time. I also love this site as you can see I really don't post much but your situation really touched me. I recommend you look up some mnemonics to help you recall info. It works great for me. like for meds prefixes and suffixes are a big help for example, Beta blockers end in lol and olol, ace inhibitors end in pril, calcium channel blockers end in dipine except the ones with VD which are Dilitizem and Verapamil. Ace 2 inhibitors end in sartan, Antilipemics(cholesterol) end in vastatin. Don't know if you already know this but just in case. I use mnemonics to remeber the rest. It really helps. Anyway just a little to help you out.

Never give up on your dream, nurse's are not made we are predestined for it.

Take care and study, study , study you can do it!
