  1. Look for internships in your area, hospitals do them several times a year.
  2. OK, my fellow new grad I just landed a job at Pediatric Services Of America (PSA). I know it's been tough and hope this info helps some of you, They do hire New Grads and love them because they are not tainted by routine and are eager to learn. Look them up in your area, they are in 28 states. Also there will be a nurse fair on the 24th for RNs and new grads in tampa, look it up in the Nurse Spectrum. I know home health is not what alot of poeple want but its a step to beginning your career. I know I will take it and run with it!! Good Luck my fellow New Grads and I hope you find a job soon!! Gisela BSN, RN
  3. I am also a new grad, passed nclex in Dec. 09 and still nothing. But, I just got a call from a recruiter that works for Pediatric Services of America (PSA). Look them up they are all over the states and are hiring new grads and will train. I am very excited and even though it is not what I ideal for myself, it is a step in the right direction. I live near Tampa and hospitals are even screening for nurse fairs. They don't want New Grads. Good Luck and I hope this info helps.
  4. Murphy, meds. memorize by classification and nuemonics. Cushings use the u in the word to remeber evreything goes up. And in Addisons, the D for down. Both salt and sugar. Hyper and hypo just remeber wat the thyroid does, it controls Temp, BP, metabolism, and Heart rate. So if its Hyper all those are going to be affected and vice versa for hypo. Hope that helps, keep doing questions and review labs.
  5. Dont give up.. it will happen for you, I just took my boards for the 5th time and found out I finally passed. Their were many times when I doubted my ability and doubted all the hard work. But it will pay off. Put God first and ask for his guidance. it will happen.
  6. Also remember administerng oxygen first will help with ischemia .
  7. I think you need to look at the stem of the question, also ABC, airway always takes priority. Hope this helps.
  8. Hey August, I will help in whatever I can, I am usually syudying all morning til about 1pm eastern time. I also love this site as you can see I really don't post much but your situation really touched me. I recommend you look up some mnemonics to help you recall info. It works great for me. like for meds prefixes and suffixes are a big help for example, Beta blockers end in lol and olol, ace inhibitors end in pril, calcium channel blockers end in dipine except the ones with VD which are Dilitizem and Verapamil. Ace 2 inhibitors end in sartan, Antilipemics(cholesterol) end in vastatin. Don't know if you already know this but just in case. I use mnemonics to remeber the rest. It really helps. Anyway just a little to help you out. Never give up on your dream, nurse's are not made we are predestined for it. Take care and study, study , study you can do it! Gisela
  9. Hi, I read your post and totally relate. I graduated in 2001 and recently took an intense review with clinicals and all. It was amazing and I recommend you do the same. You have to recall all that info that has been dormant for a long time. I live in FL and can recommend a great review. I will be sitting for boards in December. After the review finished all I have been doing is about 150 questions a day. I use Exam Cram, Nclex 3500 and as my base/foundation/backup Saunders.. but it is really easy and I only use it when I need to understand something better. Saunders is a great book and has a great CD but the Question are not very close to Nclex like the other 2 are. This is just my opinion and if you need any help, just let me know. Oh another great book is Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment. Nclex is really cracking on this. Good Luck Gisela
