Taking the Entrance Exam Tuesday

Hi All,

After 20 years dreaming about this and the last 6 months going through the admission process at my school - I finally take the Nursing Entrance Exam Tuesday Night. Judging by the 200 page study guide I've been going over - it's going to be a doozie!!!

For some reason at age "42" I'm much better at studying and retaining information than when I was younger - maybe because so much is riding on this. I bought a Biology Crash Course book and read the entire thing in one night - I was shocked at how much more interesting it all was now than when I was taking it in high school and college years ago. Gee, who knew a Biology book could be such a "page-turner"? :)

I took the sample test in the book and did really well on everything except Chemistry - never took many chemistry courses, so I'll just do the best I can on that part of the exam. The last 6 months have been really stressful - sort of like living in limbo. I wish after the exam as you're walking out they'd just say - you're in or you're out. It would be so much less painful that way than waiting another month to find out where you stand.

Anway, I want to join the rest of you in the Class of 2006 and will do my very best on Tuesday - it's my only shot at the exam this year. I spent 6 years in the Navy working on the Wards and absolutely loved it - found my true calling. I know in my Heart I have what it takes to be a Great Nurse - just have to be one of the lucky ones to get a slot for the Fall.

Please send some good thoughts my way - Thank You, SusanNC - Future RN

Thanks Everyone, I really apprciate it. Actually the school I've applied to calls their entrance exam the "TEAS" (just my rotten luck, something they just started this year) chemistry, algebra, A&P, biology, reading, english, electricity (good grief) - I'm going nuts trying to soak up all this information - it's like taking the SAT's. All I can do is my best and I hope that's good enough to get in. Thanks again, SusanNC

Hello, Susan. My school is also implementing the TEAS this year. I have a good friend who took it in January and said that it wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be. She also used the TEAS study guide/practice tests & felt it prepared her pretty well. The science portion was the hardest for her, but our school looks at it but doesn't count it as part of our score. She also said the math was what was covered in the book, but was tough because of the time limit. She said to keep a close eye on how much time you have left.

I wish you luck, and my thoughts are with you...I'm taking the test on the 25th, so I expect the same from you!! LOL Good luck and let us know how it went.

Wishing you all the very best tomorrow evening, Sue.

I know that 20 year dream... I had it too... and followed through.

It was as an Air Force medical corpsman that I knew this was what I was meant to do... and be.... just like you.

Keeping all fingers and toes crossed for you ! :kiss

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do just fine! :)
