1098t not given but school

I took advanced A&P at MATC but am in the nursing program at WCTC. MATC did not furnish me with a 1098t because they "didn't have to." The class transfers to my program though. Does anyone have exp. with this or now how I can claim this on my taxes to get the ought most financial benefits?

ThankS!:twocents:

Did you actually pay for the class in 2008? I took classes at a University Jan08-May08 but since I PAID for them in Dec. 2007 they were actually on my 2007 tax return. If that is not the case, and you PAID tuition to this school in 2008 then I am pretty sure they have to give you the 1098t so you can claim what you paid. I would go to irs.gov and see if you can find anything there, if not I would go to that school again and find out why they cannot give you the form. It is your right to claim that tuition money!

Thank you kindly for replying to my concern. I called the IRS and they informed me the school doesn't have to submit an 1098T (that is so lame in my opinion). They were very nice and informed me my options. I was anticipating hanging up frusterated by that wasn't the case at all. Kudos to the IRS; two thumbs down for Milwaukee Area Tech College.
