Just a quick question here. As far as I know, we don't have a reference available on my floor to check syringe compatibility, just IV compatibility. We don't do IM meds, only IV meds. If something is "iv compatible" does that mean that they are also "syringe compatible for IV route?" We run syringes on pumps and I generally run them over at least 5 minutes, more if there's multiple drugs in there, so going to fast really isn't an issue either. Thoughts?
On a slightly related note, anyone know of an iPhone app for checking compatibilites?

Check out epocrates's website, I think it's www.epocrates.com. Also on this board, try the forum for gear, there is a spot where all the programs for PDA's are listed. If not all of them, certainly most of them. Epocrates has an "IV compatibility" feature where you can list several meds and it will tell you if all of them work together or if not, what doesn't.
I'm really tired so I won't try to answer the syringe/iv question, I'm sure I'll get it wrong.
I keep a gayhart IV manual in my locker btw, for those things that my drug book program on my PDA isn't going into enough detail. Always helps to have a backup!

I have the Gahart text on my Palm.
Gahart does not list "IV Compatible" as a category. There is "syringe" compatible, which means whether or not you can mix it in the same syringe. There is "additive" compatible, which I am assuming means whether or not you can mix it together in a mini bag. Then there is "Y-site" compatible, which refers to whether you can y-site it in through the PIV.
