Hello All!
I am a new RN and I know that in probably about two years I will be moving from the state i am in to another location. My first job is in ortho now my question is when I move if I want to try something new is it easy to try something new in this day and time or is it impossible to switch specialties.

There is no one answer to this question as it completely depends on you and what you are able to do when switching specialties. I work OR; we've had nurses come from all specialties who weren't able to do the job and left but we've also had nurses from all specialties who were a success and are still working in the OR years later.
I am definitely interested in the OR it wasn't offered for new grads where I live.

There is a thread on reddit right now that kind of touches on this subject. It is definitely easier to switch specialties within a hospital system than from without, either way.
So if i was to leave the state i should look in the specialty im already familiar with?
