Update: Thanks for the opinions everyone! I really appreciate the input. Just to put some closure on the topic, I chose to stay on nights. As soon as I made the decision and informed my manager, I felt so relieved and nearly stress free. I'm an RN stress free doesn't exist in my life! In addition to me being happy, a lot of my fellow night owls were also very happy to hear I was staying. It's good to be loved. Thanks again.

Question for you Scoops. How do you prepare for night shift if you don't work the day before? I'm starting nights and my schedule will be on one, off one, for three nights total. Thanks! :)

Can't stand day shifts. Usually work 18 day's in a 4 week schedule. Usually rotate where I do 8 day's or 10 day shifts. Or the next month do 8 evenings or 10 evening shifts.

Lately since only 24 hour's and in need of money been doing 40 hour's. Been doing quick turn arounds getting 4 hour's of sleep. Going from eve to day to eve to day in a week. It's insanity!

I am in your boat 100%! I love nights but I really want to feel "normal" again. And we get a 25% differential on nights... So this is going to HURT! I know everyone is saying stay on nights, but as much as I prefer it, I am going to switch to days-personally. I am tired of sleeping my life away or not sleeping enough and just want to feel healthy again and not shave years off my life :)

If you love nights please stay. There are those of us that would give any thing in the world for a day shift job. I have been offering cash to my coworkers to trade me a few day shifts for night shifts.
