just wanted to let everyone know.....we had a 50something otherwise healthy male come to the unit +for H1N1. REAL sick eventually developed some ARDS. Actually had to be on a nimbex gtt for a couple weeks. For awhile there it wasnt looking to well. every turn. every bath was worry some. but this last week he left on my shift for rehab. granted he had to be trached and was still going on some resting vent settings at night he was doing extreamly well for how sick he was. But he left!!! he was so excited to leave and we were excited to see him go..

Awesome. Your staff must have done a great job! I am really happy to hear that someone so sick is on the road to recovery.
It is also interesting that he is older, and was in apparent good health before this illness. Could he have had a risk factor that we don't know about it? I wonder also, how long he was in your unit before transfer?
Thanks for sharing this.
As for PMH i believe he might have had some HTN but that was all. However he was recently on a trip outside the us. i believe Italy. started having flu like symptoms on the flight home. Strangely his wife who took the trip with him was fine. he was in the micu for at least a month.
