  1. As for PMH i believe he might have had some HTN but that was all. However he was recently on a trip outside the us. i believe Italy. started having flu like symptoms on the flight home. Strangely his wife who took the trip with him was fine. he was in the micu for at least a month.
  2. just wanted to let everyone know.....we had a 50something otherwise healthy male come to the unit +for H1N1. REAL sick eventually developed some ARDS. Actually had to be on a nimbex gtt for a couple weeks. For awhile there it wasnt looking to well. every turn. every bath was worry some. but this last week he left on my shift for rehab. granted he had to be trached and was still going on some resting vent settings at night he was doing extreamly well for how sick he was. But he left!!! he was so excited to leave and we were excited to see him go..
  3. You sound exactly like i did last year.....and i passed. GOOD LUCK!
  4. i drive down to pittsburgh not to agh or from the same way as you i come parkway west. but i have found i have to leave my house at exactly 6:00 on the weekdays otherwise i will be sitting in traffic. the weekends are beautiful driving. i would just leave early the first couple days and find what time you have to leave by. as for games. i know when pitt plays oakland is horrible. but other games seem to not be as bad. hope this is helps :)
  5. i love micu...its fast paced and you get all different kinds of pts. its a good choice if you are into the icu kinda thing
  6. i work in the micu and when pts are brought up they usually monitored and on the vent so a resp therapist and an rn will bring them up. We have Voicecare system that we record report for all pts.
  7. i graduated in june got a job that started in july and took the nclex in august
  8. NATmicuRN replied to hips12's topic in Ob/Gyn
i took a PBDS for icu nursing and it was just a video with a pt senario and you had to figure out what they were ill with and what would you do with priotizing involved. afterwords they give you your results and you how to learn what needs work during orientaion. if you dont meet expectations you have to retake it. hope this helps
  9. wow i work in Pittsburgh and were always full.
  10. there are alot of smaller towns around pittsburgh pa with tons of lakes and areas of outside rec. plus tons of hospitals in the city
  11. I think SOME people just dont like "strangers". it sucks that you can see this even through out the hospital i work at. some of the floors are notorious for being rude to people who arnt "one of them" im happy to say that for the most part on my floor we welcome new faces. The people who want to be rude are losing out on meeting wonderfull people like yourself
  12. i love the alaris pumps its so much safer for you and the pt. they take a while to get used to but the benefits are amazing. calculating the right rate for the prescribed meds= awesome:up:
  13. wow i can not imagine what i would do with 20 mins of eating lunch not in the hallway outside my pts room...or getting paid that extra money...thats awesome i wish my hospital did that
  14. if your liscense is showing on your state board of nursing that means you passed CONGRATS
  15. Thank you! I had between 75 and 80 questions. Can't remember, after 75 I started stressing. I found out 28 hours after I finished the exam, that I passed!
