Sweaty hands and gloves=Yuck!

Published

I have dealt with sweaty and hands and feet my entire life! It's extremely annoying, embarrassing, and gross! My mom even recalls not putting sandals on me as a baby because they would slide right off most of the time due to sweat, so it's not an anxiety issue. It's just hyperhidrosis.

I worked as a waitress for a couple years and was nervous about carrying the trays when my hands would sweat. I learned to balance the trays, problem solved! Wellllll, at my current job at a clinic, I have to wear latex and nitrile gloves. Also, I'll of course have to wear them even more as a nursing student/nurse! My hands don't constantly sweat, it's mostly when I'm warm or hot, but I'm almost always hot while working from running around. I don't always have the option to wash my hands or wipe them with paper towels right before putting gloves on, and I know I certainly won't in nursing, either.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? How did you solve it? I've looked into the surgeries for it, but I honestly just don't have the time or money for it right now. Has anyone used Drisol or CertainDri with good results? I bought some CertainDri, but I'm not quite sure how to use it for my hands...

there are some who used Drysol with good results but you have to use it long term. and there are some gets irritation from it. Look up botox treatment for hyperhidrosis. (had derm experience for three years) hope that helps.

Have you tried SweatBlock?

I've read about the irritation that some get from the Drysol  If I end up going with that, I really hope my hands don't get irritated! Thank you for your suggestions, I'll have to look into the Botox for it!

I don't think I've heard of it. What is that?

I knew a guy who sweat so much, it would pool into the fingertips of the gloves and fill them lol.

I hate to say it but he said there was not way to solve the issue, for him anyway. He tried powders and all sorts of things. He didn't try any medications though, he was not a fan of taking medications (for himself).

The backs of my hands sweat. Actually, I carry a rain forest within me. (I'm at that age where I carry a sweater and a fan!)

My solution is to have the next size up glove available.

They're really strong antiperspirant wipes. It says it's for underarms but it worked for other parts too.

I have the same issue. I'm strongly considering botox.

AutumnApple, that's crazy! I'm glad my sweating isn't quite that excessive, haha.

Kitiger, I find that the next size glove does help! It's just a fight to get them on :/ not as a hard as my usual size though.

My_toe_sis, I just looked at their website, it totally worth a try. I'm going to order some. Hopefully it works!

Jen, isn't it awful? I really don't want to do the Botox, but in the end, it may be the best option if nothing else works.
