SW Boces Entrance Exam

Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!

Hey Abe- did you gey your scores last thurs or fri? I was just thinking if fri..we might not get it til sat then cuz of memorial day..ahhh!

Ok so now I have a question as far as the financial aid goes. Do they take Pell and Tap or is their financial aid loans? I've read that the other Boces send acceptance letters and you usually recieve them within a week. Haven't seen any one say anything about a denial letter....

Dianedc, I got my scores on a Thursday, exactly one week from the day that I took the test. More than likely you'll get them tomorrow because of Memorial Day.

NurseLadyy, The school has a financial aid package for students that meet the financial requirements. Also, Federal Pell Grants are available to students who qualify & have not completed a bachelor's degree & Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized & unsubsidized loans) are also available for eligible students.

I have the worst credit and reallydont wanna take a loan, however I will do what I have to. If I get in and have to take a loan out that would make me even more determined. I filled out the financialk aid info online and qualify for about $3500 (Pell). However they look at 2009 W2 and I am no longer working this year. I just wanna get in....

I know.. I just wanna get in too. I plan on paying out of pocket, using their payment plan. I really don't want to have to take out another loan. For the federal stafford loans they don't check your credit. I took out a loan when I went to a community college... and they said the loan is not based on credit.

Great to hear the have a payment plan. That'll work. Do you know what the payments are like?

Tuition is divided into 10 equal payments. The first payment is due as the non-refundable deposit. the additional 9 payments are due each month from September until May.

Thanks. That averages to be about $1000 a month. Not too bad

So total tuition is about 10,000 correct? that's not terrible i guess...i still owe over 50,000 in student loans ugh i prob have to pay out of pocket in installments....3 more hrs til the mail comes!!

Hi to all of you I took the test on the 27th at sw boces memorial day was Monday so the letter should get to you by Monday I'm waiting also with fingers crossed good luck to you all
