SW Boces Entrance Exam

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!

Thanks guys, if I get nothing in the mail tomorrow, I will just call and ask. Do you know who I ask to speak to?

Don't wait for the mail, call now, just this morning I called for a friend of mine who didn't received anything and luckily she was accepted...you need to know.

Hi everyone,

I received my official acceptance letter:D.In the letter they mention an Introduction to the Practical Nursing course. Is anyone attending?

I'm sorry orientation start on 8/29/11

Help pleAse! I tried calling the school but was told to callback. So I got my "conditional acceptance" letter. I have to take the prep class, it's not an option.

So I have to pay 300 for that, then the deposit in 2 weeks of 1020.00, then it says the books are 800.00 due on orientation. So altogether it's 1,820.00 due?

The books aren't included with the deposit?

The prep class I could pay For that's not the problem. I just need to know how much ima need to put down, because financial aid doesn't cover that.

Help please!

Ah forget my last post, lol. I called and I'm good.

Anyone else going to the prep class starting on the 8th?

Why do you need to take the prep class if you are accepted?...financial aide does not cover your down payment or your book money, you can't buy your book elsewhere, you can only buy from the school, btw you are going to need a suitcase for your books...lol.

Oh deedee, My Reading score was lower than 50. So when i got my acceptance letter, it stated, I need to take the prep class it's more, an introduction to the program. It's suppose to help with study tips, medical terminology, and some anatomy before you start. If I don't take the prep, I won't be allowed to attend the school.

Personally, to me it's just more money they want, but I guess extra help never hurt anybody lol.

Deedee, are you allowed to tell us which classes we start off with? For example, do we do one course at a time, or do we have multiple classes During the week..?

You will be doing three (3) classes, A&P, fundamentals of nursing-2 sections, taught by two different teachers, test scores are average. Fundamentals of nursing ends in November and A & P ends in December.

Don't want to scare you, people start dropping out of the program after fundamentals final, and about one third don't make it after A&P. My advice to you, study, study, study and study some more, read all assignment, every week there is a test, keep abreast with your reading and you will do just fine, all the best and keep me posted.

Hey everyone! I'm Stephanie, just graduated from SW BOCES this June (2011). I moved down to North Carolina 2 days after graduation and just took the N-CLEX PN for an NC license yesterday. I will find out my results Tuesday. If anyone has any questions, hopefully I can help to answer them in a timely fashion...I know waiting is the WORST! Congrats to all those already accepted! Work hard, stay focused. It's scary when you see how many people both drop AND fail out, but as long as you keep focused, you'll pull through. There were plenty of times that friends and I didn't think we'd make it, but we did.

Stephanie, how did you find the nclex exam, any familiar questions on the exam, what study material should we your fellow graduates concentrate on, cant wait to hear about your result, btw how many questions did you do.
