Hi, I just got accepted into the BOCES LPN program in Elmsford. I am starting Sept. 2007. Any former students...please respond...I want your opinion on the program
Thanks...
I know this thread is old but if anyone out there has any specific information about the SW Boces entrance exam, that will be extremely helpful. I take my test next Thursday and I am desperate to get in! What is the required score in order to be accepted into the program? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)
The exam is called the C-net, it consists of basic reading and vocabulary and highschool math. I thought it was relatively easy. The problem is that the test is timed and most people lose time on the math. If you go to C-Net website online you can purchase practice exams. The book you receive is exactly what the test entails. Do you have a fax machine? I can probably copy and fax you an example of the book I have.
Jbabyjr,
Thank you so much for your reply! I actually have a fax machine at work and I'll be at work tomorrow from 7AM until 11PM. (I work at a hospital and I am working a double shift). Will you be able to fax it to me tomorrow?
I don't know if its worth buying the book because my test is next week. Not sure if I will get it in time. I bought a McGraw-Hill's book called Nursing School Entrance Exams and it includes questions from most nursing school entrance exams including the c-net. It says that the C-net consists of Language ability (reading comprehension & vocab), and basic math including arithmetic, percents & decimals, word problems involving ratios and proportions, algebraic equations, and scientific notation. Does this sound accurate at all? Also, do you know what I need to score in order for a good chance of being accepted?! Your help is greatly appreciated.

They didn't offer placement neccessarily, but they did offer resume assistance, and they did have a job fair at the school, which offered the oppotunity to speak with human resources from various institutions. SW Boces is pretty reputable, so job opportunity is not going to be a problem. Just to refer back to my last posting, when i suggested the experience at school was like bootcamp I meant that the overall experience, the instructors, my classmates just the daily routine has impacted my life. Though the majority of us has moved on with our lives, I often miss school, and my classmates because everybody there has the same goal and everybody wants to graduate together. I'm not trying to paint a perfect picture like anywhere people complained, things were too hard or unfair, they didn't care a a particular instructors style of teaching. Some people wanted to be spoonfed and thats not realistic. Anyway, I think I said it all. Graduation was beautiful, different from the typical college graduation. Passing rate for nclex is very high, were very well prepared but you have to the work.
