Hi, I just got accepted into the BOCES LPN program in Elmsford. I am starting Sept. 2007. Any former students...please respond...I want your opinion on the program :lol2:

Thanks...

Hey there! Congrats!

How was the entrance exam? I'm planning on applying there for their next class sometime next year, since I missed this past exam. Oh well.

Hi Smorales:

I took the C-Net exam which consists of reading comprehension, math (adding, multiplication, division, fractions, conversions, decimals)-start working on your math...get an old GED book. Also, spelling, grammar, vocabulary (antonyms, synomyns). I'll keep you posted about the structure of the program, the work that I get, etc. Talk with you again!

hi,

just wanted to know if you already started classes and how is the program so far. what else did you have to do to get in the program? I'm thinking of going to that school.:nurse:

Hi, I am currently a student at SWBOCES-Elmsford. I will be graduating in June 2008 if all goes well. I am very happy with the program. The teachers are wonderful, educated and extremely helpful. I think that clinical rotation could have been a little more challenging, but everyone's clinical experience will be different, depending on the individual and what they are willing or capable of doing, location, time and patient exposure. I highly reccommend this program.

Are you in the day pr evening program?

I am in the day program:up:

were does SW BOces do clinicals ?

well i just startes clinicals they have different sites. Im at hebrew home, they also work with westchester medical center, sprain brook nursing home, sarah newman, dumont and some others i cant remeber right now.

Thank you very much and good luck!

Hi all

The LPN program at SW BOCES, was wonderful. Of course every student will not feel that way... Especially those that didn't do as well. The program was definitely challenging but do-able.(?) LOL. I loved the instructors there, they were all extremely helpful. They were truly interested in the students passing. I have made some great friends there, because the whole experience was like bootcamp. You have to work as a team to successfully get through the program. Everybody that I know that took the Nclex has passed including myself and most are working and /or in school. The clinical rotations were primarily in the Weschester area, some nursing homes, some rehab facilities and hospitals ex. Westchester Med.Ctr., and Whiteplains Hosp. Some of the other clinical sites were Dumont (New Rochelle) Cabrini nursing home (Dobbs Ferry) just to name a few.

Thank you so much for the information!

do they offer Job fair/placement once you get licensed?
