Support group for CRNE June 2011

Published

Hello everyone,

I realize when I had to write my nursing exam how much pressure I experienced about the whole thing. I wrote mine in June 2010 and passed in first attempt but still remember when I walked out the exam, I was not sure what would be the result.

The purpose of this thread is supporting those nursing students who are planning to write their CRNE in upcoming June. Students, please feel free to share your concerns and questions. Nurses please support those students with tips for study.

Just couple of reminders before we get started:

1. Please do not discuss specific questions or any content tested in CRNE.

2. Please read other threads for more information as well. Other threads give you valuable information and be smart and take them into your advantage.

3. Please stay on topic.

4. Please use proper grammar and spelling.

Thank you all.

No I wasn't referring to their GPA in university. if you want some info about past exams go to the CNA website itself and google it there. There are various fact sheets about the exams found through their site.

Thanks. I found one but it was last edited 2007. It only mentions that "the standard is set in reference to the content and level of difficulty of the questions that appear on the particular version of the CRNE that the candidate is writing." I'm not sure how relevant that is now, in 2011. Again, thanks.

You're welcome.

I am well aware that I can start applying for a new grad position. I just chose not to at this point in time just in case I don't make it. Not all employers are kind enough to hold the position offered to you if you failed the CRNE. To each their own but thanks for the reminder.

I too feel the same as you, I chose not to apply right now until I know for sure that I passed. Because I'd rather be sure that I have my license and not have to go through the whole ordeal of explaining to your new boss that you failed, that would be twice as devastating for me. I also have a comment for the person that said that we will be getting our result by email?? Is this factual? Because I am pretty sure that the only way they have ever givren out results was by mail, so I am curious where you got this information.

I was wondering about what would happen with regards to results being mailed out when there's a strike. I guess e-mail makes sense, and it would be nice if everyone got their results at the same time rather than having to wait for a slightly slower mail delivery!

Yes It would be nice. I actually called them and asked if the rumors were true and the lady said NO. For now, there is no such action that have been made regarding emailing the scores. Perhaps they may decide that later...

I guess we have to count on the results by mail and wait.

Darn. Oh well hopefully mail will be delivered promptly so we all know at roughly the same time

Hi All,

I just wrote the June, 2011 CRNE and am currently working and nervously awaiting results. Very stressed as I was not able to finish my exam, I had to leave the last 42 questions blank as I ran out of time, panicked and my exam was taken from me, I must have cried a dozen times..really hoping the experimental ques. for the most part were at the end..and that I did well with what I answered... :(( So stressed, I've never failed in my life but this is so bad :(

My exam experience

I went into the exam very nervous about what to expect (I'm an IEN and have only had myself to guide the revision for the CRNE) but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. At least I say that now I may change my mind when I get the results!!

I found that I read through the questions slowly, underlining the key words in the question to see what was actually being asked. I then read through the answers discarding the ones i knew were wrong until I had the right answer.

I found that the case based questions were very confusing and often there were 2 answers that I thought could be right.

The independent questions were a lot easier. Again I highlighted the key words and went from there.

I personally found that there was plenty of time. I left with about 20 minutes to go and had answered all the questions. Any question that I really didn't know the answer to I left out and went back to at the end so that I gave myself the best chance at answering questions I was more confident at allowing me time at the end to really think about the ones I wasn't sure about.

I personally didn't go back and check my answers, because I find that when I do that I start to second guess myself and so I decided that it was better for me just to go with what I thought first time round.

When I left I was quite upset as I found the exam focused on areas that I'm not very strong on but I guess I have to just wait and see now right??

Thanks for calling them!

Hi All,

I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to finish the exam on time. I can't imagine the stress you're experiencing. I'm rooting for you! I really did think the questions were longer than all the prepguide questions.

Hello, everyone:)

I wrote my June CRNE in Toronto and waiting for the result, and I tell you, that everyday is dread~!!:uhoh3:

I just want to share my experience with you.

My experience with the exam was "OMG!! This is IT~!!I am so nervous that I am going to **** o my pants"

Case study questions were confusing and somewhat unclear

and I had left lots of these questions to move on to next one.

at this point, I am almost screaming in my head that "I am SOOOO failing"

It feel like it was really depends on the key words within the case study

that changed the answer completely.

Or, I am analysing too much and thus, I am wrong.

Short answer questions were not as bad but it does not mean it was easy or clearly written.

I spent 2 hours on case study questions and about 75minutes with short answers.

(still there were so many questions I left out or did not even bother to attempt to answer since I don't know)

I manged to finish the exam 45 minutes before the four hours

and went back to questions I left out.

By then, I felt like my brain was slowing down and tired, and it fact, it was good for me because I was not as nervous as before due to fatigue.(or maybe I uncontiously given up in my mind:confused:)

I did my best to the end and tried to fill in all the blanks:o(somtimes guessing like rolling the pencils and such)

As you all know, I was not able to go back and re read all the questions due to time constraints.

Only few questions I spent some times.

And I agree with time management skills and being not nervous during the exam are really important.

I hope I pass but who knows??:crying2:

I am trying to be positive and not think about it everyday

since it is eating me inside out..yum...yum...

If I don't, well...this is an experience that I will never forget and be misrable until I pass  haha...

This is my everyday life.

Thank you for reading:up:
