Supplies?

Published

Hi everyone. I have been accepted to a BSN program that begins in August. I'm trying to get a feel for what kinds of supplies I might need other than the obvious scrubs, stethoscope, shoes, and uniforms. What kind of school supplies, study guides, etc. would you recommend stocking up on? Also, I was trying to decide if I should buy an ipod touch for nursing apps. Any suggestions? Thanks! :)

I love my ipod touch for nursing apps. Almost everything from all your books is right there in your pocket!

You will need good, organized school supplies, like binders, sticky notes, tabs, note cards, highlighters etc.

NCLEX Review books are helpful in studying for your exams. I like Saunders the best.

If your school uses those stupid scantrons, I highly suggest a TON of #2 mechanical pencils. :D Otherwise, plenty of paper to take notes, printer ink and paper, a good calendar (or whatever it is you like to use to keep life straight, lol.) I have the Saunders NCLEX prep book, but otherwise I haven't bought a lot of study aids. (Mainly things to help me get through Pathophys.)

Oh! And something I think is VERY important...a GOOD pair of comfortable shoes.

Good luck!

What size Ipod touch do you have?

I just have the 8g and it is fine, only about half full. I have numerous medical apps, a moderate amount of music and photos. I think it is the videos that suck up the space and I don't bother with that.

Go to the mobile computing forum, there is tons of good info there on Ipod apps. Be sure you get a drug guide, Taber's Med dictionary etc.

whatever you need to keep organized... in school organization is KEY!
