Hi there! I'm an LPN in Okla. I work at a rural hospital, med/surg unit. I'm being asked to work alone on the unit with only a care tech with me. It is my understanding that an RN must be ON the unit as well. Am I wrong?
Please advise.

I'm thinking that the hospital wouldn't be so dumb as to blatantly disregard staffing rules. You'd be surprised looking at the state regulations just how lax they might be.
I can't speak to Oklahoma requirements since I don't live there, maybe somebody from your state will answer? I can tell you that in WI as long as certain conditions are met the only requirement is that an RN be available on-call

Unfortunately they disregard several guidelines. I decided the risk just wasn't worth it. Thank you for your reply.
