Super Quick Question About HESI!

Published

Hello, if you've taken the HESI I could REALLY use your help!

This is a question to anyone who's taken the HESI.

I have the Evolve study guide and have looked over the "reading comprehension" portion.

In the study guide there is a couple paragraph passage with approximately 5 questions about the passage. Each passage has basically the same 5 questions, such as:

1. "In paragraph #2, what does the word $% mean?"

2. "What is the purpose of this passage?...inform, entertain, persuade, analyze?"

3. "What's the main topic of this passage?"

Is what's in the study guide similar to what that portion of the test is? I just don't want to get there and the reading comprehension part to be completely different.

Thanks so much for your time.

Specializes in cardiac-telemetry, hospice, ICU.

Yup, pretty much. In my opinion, the exam was maybe a little easier.

Good luck.

Yeah, exactly the same. As ST said, the exam IS a lot easier.

Yeah, like the others have said it is pretty much the same format.

Thank you guys so much! If you don't mind could you tell me what you got on the reading comprehension section?

That's the only section that matters for my school and am just trying to gauge it!!

Thanks again everyone.

I got a 100% on that section. I actually just skimmed over comprehension and focused on the anatomy, chemistry, math and vocabulary sections. I've never had any issues with reading comprehension, has this been a weakness for you in the past? Do you only have to take the test on the reading comprehension section or will this section weigh heavily on the overall percentage?

Honestly you sound or type :lol2: like your very concerned about the hesi exam...I suggest that you seek some type of tutoring a.s.a.p. Because only they will be able to assess your comprehension skills.

Good luck!:)

The program I am applying to goes specifically off the reading comprehension part of the exam. Although I've never had a problem with that subject before the past semesters have needed about a 90% to get in!! I just want to be as prepared as possible. I feel like a couple of "dumb" errors could break me, you know.

Thank you so much for all your advice. :))
