I know a lot of us are starting in the next few weeks and are super excited (and scared!)
I'll be starting the Motlow in TN ADN program next Monday. Finished all my non-nursing classes this summer and the 3 week break is flying by. Just ordered the last of my books!
I'm going back and forth between being really excited and super scared! I am really looking forward to learning all the fun stuff, but just worried about the tests and pressures. I have 3 kids that I homeschool, but I have a great supportive hubby that will help with that. My decision to start school went from something fun I've always wanted to do to becoming a necessity since my dh has had a major career change and pay cut recently.
Trying to keep a positive attitude and not worry so much...

Good luck to you, you are taking on a lot! You sound committed, and you CAN do it! Take time to relax before school starts. If you are feeling antsy, get yourself organized. Set up a schedule for your kids, order your books, order scrubs, get a planner etc. If you can, make a friend who is either ahead of you or done with your program. This will be valuable for knowing what you need and don't need as far as books and supplies, as well as someone to ask "Do I REALLY need to read all 350 pages of this reading assignment?".

Best of wishes!! I'm a homeschooling Mom as well, so many say this is total craziness to try and do Nursing school PLUS provide a quality home education for our twins... but when the calling is in your heart, God definitely makes a way to succeed at both. :yelclap:

Unless your husband is going to pick up the slack and do everything else around the house, how will you do it? Are you in a full-time program?
Awesome! I have twins, too :) Mine just turned 10, my oldest is 12. Good to see another homeschooler. My dh is a farmer; he is in and out all day and can make sure they are doing what they are supposed to do. The kids are pretty great at being 95% self-taught.

Congrats on beginning your program soon! And don't let naysayers discourage you! I am about to start my program as well and we homeschool our 8 year old; we also have a 4 year old and 18 month old (my husband has an eye disorder so he is unable to work and does the homeschooling). You can do it!

Oh funny, I am starting pre-reqs this fall at Nashville State; we are also homeschoolers (3 and 6 yo boys); and me going back to school was also a dream turned necessity - my husband will have to work/live out of town unless I can finish school and go back to work. He is in Africa currently, and we miss him a whole bunch. I must. Do. This.
Good luck to you!! And keep us posted! I'd love to hear more about your experience at Motlow...as I get my ADN apps together this fall... :)
Wow, couldn't imagine hubby being away from us, that must stink. I love Motlow so far. All the prereqs have been a breeze, and most of the teachers are fantastic. The competition to get in to nursing school is astounding, though. 920 applicants this year and around 90 spots! That was the scariest part; working so hard and really not knowing if it's for nothing. If you have any questions, let me know :)
