Hi there!

Well, I just got hired as a CNA in a long-term facility and I am going to be starting on third shifts....

I need advice from the super-duper experienced CNAs. :)

I need advice on what to buy to wear, what to bring, what I would need and what wouldn't be necessary. I got hired at the same facility I did my clinicals in, so I know wear everything is and such, but they are very vague about what equipment to bring.

Also I'm kind of panicking over the horror stories people are posting about rude, bullying, hazing coworkers and RNs. I go to church with one RN, but since my clinicals, all the RNs have changed hands so there isn't anyone I remember or recognize!! How do I make a good impression with my superiors without seeming arrogant or a know-it-all to my peers?

Also, I don't know if this will hurt or help, but I am a homeschoolled senior and I am 16 and, technically, this is my first job....I'm also quiet, reserved, a tiny bit socially awkward and a gigantic nerd andddddd....I love Jesus.... But, I am a focused, ethical, hard, working individual....

help....?

I will assume, based upon the fact that you are 16 and a senior, that you are intelligent and manage your time well. I will also assume, since you are homeschooled, that you know the correct ways to socialize with adults and do not act child-ish.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't tell everyone all of your business at work. No-one needs to know you are home-schooled, 16 or anything else about you. Your facility hired you because you are qualified, that's all anyone needs to know, in my opinion.

At any job, the best policy is usually not to mix personal and business matters.

I am very happy for you that you found a job and I hope that you are able to not only earn money, but learn a lot from your experience.

I just passed my CNA state test last week and am looking for a CNA job - please say a prayer for me on my job hunt! I know that God is more than able. :)
