SUNY Brockport second degree nursing 2019

Hello! I wanted to make a thread for anyone applying to the Brockport accelerated nursing program :)

Im curious to hear about other individuals experience with this program as well. I haven't been able to find as much about it online like he UR program, for example.

Hi! I'm applying to the Brockport accelerated program! I just have to finish my letter of intent. To be honest I'm waffling between MCC and Brockport, mostly because I have kids and I know it will be really intense to go through 2 summers straight of full time school. I just talked to a friend today who has been a nurse for years and who did the accelerated program at UofR and who still encouraged me to do the MCC program even with the new BSN in ten laws because it can all be done online. I'm still going to give it a shot though!

I'm feeling the same way! It's hard to decide between brockport and MCC also because of the timeline for acceptance/program starting. Brockport only starts in May and doesn't give decisions until December whereas MCC can start in January and tells you sooner.

Exactly! So this week I've talked to several friends of mine who are nurses. They all have BSN's and THEY ALL SAID that MCC makes more sense! Both programs would end at the same time since MCC starts sooner, then I can slowly work on my BSN and chances are it will be paid for!

Exactly! Plus the mcc program can be part time depending on the credits you go in with!

Still going to move forward with my application since it's a good idea to have options. I don't know much about the reputation of their program nor have a heard much about it. Do you know anything?

I hear a lot about UR and MCC but not Brockport for some reason.

I hear it's a great program and much cheaper than UofR! However, there are other things to consider. For me, I would have to have childcare throughout 2 summers and wouldn't be able to work even part time, which means even more debt. I literally just applied to MCC today! I will still apply to Brockport to have options, but I think my mind is set.

I just got my acceptance letter!!!

I got in too! Does anyone know where to see exactly what the costs are going to be? I feel like using the regular in-state charts won't be accurate bc of the credit load we have. Plus lab and clinical fees and all that jazz.

I think we are supposed to get another letter/email about the nursing program specifically. The letter we received in Nov was the acceptance letter to the school. It says online after Dec 1 is when we will hear about if we got into the nursing program. So fingers crossed. So soon! Has anyone received anything yet? Also @SteveG89 I think it's around 20k

Yeah I think 20k sounds about right. WAY better than 70k + for UofR!!! I'm very excited but very nervous. I known it's going to be tough. I also just received my acceptance letter from MCC. I know it's smarter to just bite the bullet and do the Brockport program, but part of me wants to to do MCC. I just don't want the BSN hanging over my head in the future!

Did you get accepted to u of r too? And what do you mean having the BSN hanging over your head in th future?? Also isn't Mac the traditional 4 year RN?

Hey, if you don't mind me asking what were your grades and GPA like. I will be applying this year and I was wondering if my grades are good enough or the odds of me getting in. Did you have any previous experience?
