Hi everyone,
I recently applied to SUNY Brockports Accelerated Program and was wondering if there is anyone out there that also applied for the Summer 2015 Cohort?
Also if there was anyone that is either currently in the program or graduated from it? I was hoping to get some feedback on it.
I decided Nursing is the path I was going to take a couple years ago & have been researching the field / schools to nauseum. For the last year I focused on completing my pre-reqs and FINALLY am done w/ them and am in the position to apply :) Through my research I was able to find a ton of info on the University of Rochester's program but not so much on Brockports. I just wanted to start a forum to try to get some more info & see if others are applying.
I also applied to U of R's program, and was accepted!!! I wont hear back from Brockport till Dec on my acceptance, if they accept me then I will have to decide between the 2 schools. Brockport is of course a fraction of the cost of UR... but I am not sure if I will even get accepted since Brockport seems to be very picky on who they let in...
Any info would be appreciated
Just to note: I know UR is super picky too (ranked #32 top nursing school, they deserve to be right!). I am very fortunate & honored to get accepted there! What I meant was maybe Brockport gets more applicants since its 45K cheaper? Maybe not though, I dont know, I am just guessing. Anyway if anyone has any info please reply :) Thanks!

getting in to Brockport is a bit easier than other SUNY schools. i got in last year but wasn't able to attend. They focus mostly on GPA. if your GPA is decent (above 3.5) you have nothing to worry about. last year theyre were people with 3.2s etc.
Katehugs,
My undergrad GPA was only a 3.0 (ugh the 1st semester of undergrad I messed up and it brought my GPA down for the remainder of my time) but I have a 3.85 in my Masters program! Hopefully they focus on my most recent coursework of the Masters GPA rather than the undergrad. I am thinking they will, I mean the Masters degree should tecnically mean more to them since it was in Mental Health Counseling & I want to do Psych Nursing. I also have all As in the science pre-reqs.
Well ... I guess all I can do is wait & pray I get accepted!! They said they'll send out decisions in Dec. Thank you so much for responding, I really appreciate it.
i hope it works out for you! they really should focus on your masters gpa more. if they don't then silly them!

jseg04,
Have you heard back from Brockport at all? I'm currently in the class of 2015 cohort.
Hi FredWurlitzer
No, nothing yet Their website said they will send out decisions after Dec 1st. It feels like a lifetime! Congrats to you for getting accepted. You might not know, but do you have any idea of how competitive it was to get into the cohort you're in? Like, how many applicants were there and how many people were accepted? I called the secretary of the nursing dept. but she didnt know the stats for this years cohort (at least not at the time I called).
On a scale of 1-10 how intense is the program? I anticipate it's intense but it is bearable or totally mind-boggling? I could ask you a million questions but I know you're probably really busy so I will only ask those ones :) haha.
